Stat looks great in hindsight, the lack of anyone posting results is a worry, maybe a red flag.

It takes a lot for me to IGNORE you, but you can try.

If you look at any chart, the “2” signal is more likely than “1” or “3”.

Hello everyone!

I've been taking a closer look at TheStrat for a few weeks now and I'm increasingly getting the impression that it's a very powerful method and that it's not about just trading a 2-1-2 combination or a hammer, for example, but knowing when to trade them. Keywords: full-timeframe continuity and broadening formations. These seem to be very important elements.

The following sources were particularly helpful to me:

Totally looking forward to seeing any results from this method, forward testing results that is, as hindsight is all that I can find after this method has been around for years.

I challenge you to open a Trade Explorer and really put the pressure on!!

After studying videos and backtesting and demo trading hundreds of charts, I have to say this:

TheSTRAT provides a completely new perspective and a completely new interpretation of price action.

As I wrote in my previous post, TheSTRAT means more than just blindly trading a setup, e.g. the breakout of an inside bar or a 2-2 reversal, along the lines of "Oh, an inside bar. I put an entry order above and one below and that's it..." or "Oh, a hammer. If it breaks out to the upside, I'll go long..." It's about recognizing the context in which the setup is created. Timeframe continuity and broadening formations are crucial factors to understand. Risk management also works differently than one might think from a superficial look.

TheSTRAT works surprisingly well for me in stock trading, but less so in the forex market. This is not because the price action on the stock market is different from the Forex market, or because different price action laws apply in the Forex market, but simply because there are too few signals on the Forex market for a swing trader like me. For example, there is a free site where I can scan 100s of stocks for weekly signals at the weekend. And then I get 5, 10 or 20 that I can put on my watchlist, and of which I can trade 2, 3 or 5 in the following week.
In Forex, I am limited by the number of currency pairs. If, like me, you only trade the main USD pairs, you have 7 pairs. And if there is no weekly signal, then there is no trade. That is not enough for me.

My conclusion: TheSTRAT works, but not for me in Forex trading. Maybe someone who has time for day trading will try out how it works if you use the daily candle as a signal generator and make your entries in the H1 and M15...

Day trading does not necessarily mean every day trading. In fact, most professionals spend more time looking for reasons not to make a trade as opposed to reasons to make a trade.

I don't trade the STRAT per se, but I am an avid proponent of the Full Time Frame Continuity Principle as it was originally taught by Rob. However, I think the Monthly is bit too long, therefore I only look at the Weekly, Daily, and 1 Hour and use the 1 Minute for entry.

I am curious what you mean by Weekly Signal? All you need to know about the Weekly time frame is; "is it above or below its open?"

I never said that day trading means you have to trade every day. For me, it means trading price movements within a single day. I could do this just every third Monday of even weeks in leap years if I wanted to. But here's the thing - and this is how I understand day trading - on those specific Mondays, I need to sit in front of my screen and pay close attention for a while. Since I have a regular job, that's just not possible on Mondays. So if I happen to be free on one of these rare Mondays and can't find a setup in those few main forex pairs, well, that's just bad luck; no Trade for me.
But if I'm screening let's say 1,000 stocks for signals, I'm much more likely to find something in the higher timeframes. The thing is, TheStrat offers really precise entry points with a pretty high success rate, but they don't come around very often. That's why the "basket" of forex pairs is just too small to get a lot of profitable trades. You're basically fishing in too small of a pond to catch enough fish.
I hope this better explains why I think TheStrat isn't the best fit for short-term day trading in forex, at least for me.

About your comment on TC and "is it above or below its open": Yes, TC is very important, but I prefer when the highest timeframe I'm looking at, e. g. the Monthly or the Weekly also shows an actionable signal.

Good day,

I mostly trade conflicts, red 2 ups, or green 2 downs. I am still learning a lot. One of the things I learned was to use the 20 sma, and 200 sma. And never go against the angle of the 20 sma. Also when 20 is flat - no trading.

If the 20 sma is at an upward angle and price is close to the 20 sma, only trade upward, and vice versa for shorts. When price is far away from the 20 you take profit on reversal candle and reverse on a nice conflict or a decent 1. Please take note when price is flat, the 20 sma will also be flat. The best signals in the world won't work. To avoid costly mistakes rather trade when the 20 sma is trending.

I learned a lot from Oliver Velez in this regard. please watch this video to see what I am talking about.

I don't recommend trading like him. But like he said there's a lot of people using the 20 sma, and the 200 sma. Which makes it a self fulfilling prophecy.

In my book the only actionable signals are decent conflicts and 1's that looks almost like a conflict in a trending market (look for interaction with the 20 sma). And no trading in sideways markets ( normally you will find the 20 sma flat and large candles with long wicks.

Hoping this will help somebody to avoid the costly mistakes I made.
