Thesis about Forex, currencies...

Hi FF friends!

I'm in the last phase of my university studies (Management). I have to write a thesis for finalizing the studies and achive the degree. I was thinking about spending the time in researching and writing this thesis on some theme that is interesting and valuable for me.

As I'm trading Forex for some time now (demo till Oktober and a small live acc started this month) and I'm very interested in this business it can be an idea to write a thesis about the Forex and the world surrounding it.

Did anyone of you already wrote a thesis about forex, currencies, world economies...
Do you have any idea on some interesting topic that I can focus on?
Is there any internet database for such related thesis? (master, graduate...)

hey, i have one but its in indonesian language, its about predicting market movement using CRISMA method, and i dont have a soft copy of that

Hi Opti - you can probably access a database service called ProQuest from your university library. ProQuest has a 'Dissertations and Theses Full Text' service. A search for the keyword 'forex' produced six results, and I'm sure other keywords would generate more. Here are a few interesting ones:

the "full text" option, doesn't work for "dissertation and thesis"

Opti - do you have access to ProQuest? You may actually have to go to a computer in your university to log on - depends on what kind of licensing you guys have.

Yes I checked the database from the UN computer (we have access based on the IP address).
If I choose the category "dissertation and thesis", the "full text" button disappears. As I can see, you can only buy this kind of documents.
Do you have a different access?

Actually, the research is focus in artificial intelligence (Neural networks, Genetic algorithms, Fuzzy Logic) today we have a lot of these material on line.

I have some publications on this area but the documents are very large in size (MB). However I'll send you some articles of Stocks, futures and bullions where the people use NN, TA, GA, and other methodologies.

I think i have something like a thesis (not sure) on my comp, I found it on torrents i think. I'll send you an email if you want, just pm me. It's about stock market prediction using artificail neural networks

that's also an idea. I'm interested in macroeconomic tools and indexes correlations. That's also directly affecting the FX market.

Here's an idea.

Thesis: In spot Forex it is essential that the majority of traders lose so that the forex broker's business model will sustain liquidity, volatility at key periods and ultimately profitability.

It would be interesting if any brokers would give you info to support this.

KudzuFX, can you reinforce your "thesis". I don't see it like that. Retail traders do not influence liquidity and volatility because they rapresent only a small part of the market.

Actually, when talking about FX liquidity there are several aspects to the concept in forex. Basicly what I was saying is that the banks and the brokers need the speculators to provide the "cash" for them to make their wins. Retail traders may not influence the price movement as a specific group, but they along with the whole group called speculators provide ongoing liquidity that gets sucked out of the market by the winners.

If AI is so good everybody would be using it and making money
already.

Why use an AI, when 1+1 is so easy to calculate. Well, the
forex market is like 1+1 to me. Of course, you got to build the
experience.

I guess 1+1 can be hard for somebody who has not experienced and
learned it.

Of course, forex got to be first nature. If you are struggling then
do something else. There are many roads to success, not just
forex.
