Spent Saturday reading this thread and found some great info on page 23. Thanks to LBtrader for posting this I found it exceptionally useful as I am new to Ichi trading and use it as confirmation for a similar Sonic R trading system. Newbies trading Ichi would benefit from this!

Yes I do wait for it to break the kumo. But I use higher tf to get my signals. I know some people just make sure it is above/below price, not really the kumo. Just my preference.

Kovacs wanted wait for three time frames to line up in harmony. I wait for one.

If you want send me your email and I can send you some charts with some good rules to go by.

Hi,

I'm new to the thread, but I've been interested in Ichimoku trading for a long time. I've been using it on M15 timeframe and the results are very far from good.

What I know is that the Chinkou Span must be above the price, the price must be above the cloud and Tenkan Sen must cross above Kijun Sen above the cloud to have a strong signal and at least in the cloud to have an average signal for a long entry.

Are you using other timeframes to choose better entries and how?

Do we enter immediately on the cross of Tenkan Sen above Kijun Sen, or we wait for a special candle, or a break above previous high, or something else?

How do we set the stoploss and profit target?

I hope you can answer my questions. Thank you.

Hi therei would like to help you find a shortcut,to win some time!Forget about signals that ichimoku is generating.Trust me,if you trade tenkan-kjun crosses or take any other signal blindly, you will go bunkrupt soon! The way to use ichi,is to trade price against ichi levels.A cross is giving you an edge if price action agrees.Start with this:

1)remove every indicator from your charts intil you learn these
2) price action(basic canlde patterns)
3) price formations(triangles,pennants,flags)
4)reload ichi and you see what price does against levels
5)you will then have an edge and you will be able to manage your risk

Go to this thread were guys are experienced and know what they are doing, you will learn a lot

On the whole I agree with swingfiddle. I'm not really a big fan of candle stick patterns, but knowing what a few key shapes mean can be very helpful. Price formations are key in recongise consolidations and finding support and resistance points. I think you could probably leave the ichi set up over it, but you will find that the more charts you look at the more you will ignore whats going on with the indicators. I would also advise looking at mulitple time frames when applying ichi. THe larger time frames are more effective, but you need deeper pockets for your drawdowns. I look at two sets a 10m, 1H & 4H; 1H, 4H, 1D. So I am looking for a trend on the larger time frames and then entry and exit on the smallest. Thats my style, but you will find your own way.

I might add on my own trading, waiting for price to leave the weekly pivot and trade the cloud in that direction helps the P&L as well.

hi, I agree with what you said. I find it interesting because trader will then wait for a price action to form first around an Ichimoku level eg kijun sen and then enter into the market. if trading on a lower time frame eg h1, how do you manage to trade with such trading system because I can't imagine myself looking at charts every hour to trade the price action. your insight is most valued.

I have been trying to trade using short term time frames. I start with a 4H and look for a trend. This may be a standard break out, but also, a trend reversal, where price has cut back through the t/k, with a t/k cross reversal. i then look for a break out on the 1H and then I trade off the 10M chart. this seems to work okay, but there are many more fake outs and price can quickly reverse, so you have to be on the ball and also know when to TP.
I think trading a 1D, 4H and 1H would be better. to trade like this you don't have to monitor each hour as you can sort of see where possible entry points will be and then set orders to match.
GeraldFX what TF do you normally trade off?

An example i am looking at right now is USDSGD daily chart. Chikou is about to pop out as strong bearish. Also looking at CZKHUF H4 bullish cloud breakout. Chikou is also about to pop out as strong bullish. Till then, I'll sit tight with these pair in my radar watch list.

Not much opportunity for trending yet but they are setting up.

Gerald, wanted to ask you. Is there online courses from the website or is it only the classes Manesh is doing? See the website is down, only the blog working.

The GBPUSD daily just poped out of the cloud. If you look at weekly, it could also possible setup a trend, if the market permits.

Two things it could do:
1. Break the cloud with a strong momentum towards pivot high and twist the ts/ks.
2. Break the cloud and consolidate to buy time for the ts/ks to twist.

The retest of the daily high (1.6280) will determine what the market wants to do.
