I'll be back on the 14th, the good news is that i had already fixed it, along with giving the option of configuring the MA's (Open, Close, ..... SMA, EMA, LWMA).

I just need to spend a couple of hours tiding it up, i post it by the 15th.
Ignored
So does tread mean an updated version of the EA or is he just talking about a set file.

It's another version, and since it's been some time that Tread was going to make this one, I think it would be great, we'll see some good options in it, and more probably a set-file comes with it.

Thats so cool.

Now if you have been taking notice of this thread I came up with a set file that I ran all week from Mon-Fri on a demo account. I studied the trades and I wasn't happy with my set file but everything else seemed fine to me.

So I have put togeather a new set file which I will be running Mon-Fri using a demo account on my VPS. Over the weekend I ran a backtest using this new set file, I grabbed around 150 pips using the 5 majors. I am not the biggest fan of backtesting so won't be posting the set file here until the weekend (Thats if it gives good results). I will run it on a demo account for the trading week and hopefully I will have a set file worth further testing.

The Backtest results are below.

You have good results, but if you want to find your set-file weakness run it through some specific date which are ranging, like 17, 18, 26 of January.
Good Luck

hmmmm facing tough stuff ... does anyone know how to deal with pivots ?? most if not all bad trades happen at S&R, how do you deal with this issue ? Do you just place no trade zone within some pop number or take profitable trades when you hit S&R or what are your actions ?

I'm not demoing the EA yet, so I don't have any experience with pivots in this EA, but I think you're right just don't get in near them.
Some of the losses in back-testing could have happened because of them, but still I'm trying to find a reasonable result in back-testing in a long period.

don't waste your time with backtests, if that would be that simple It would be possible just to run through all combination of settings and pick the best ones, but as you have seen from my screenshots from before real life and backtest show different result, your best bet is to run in real time and then modify files as you go. what would be the reasonable offset for trades from pivots ? 8 pips ? then there is complication how to handle situation when price touches pivot point, if profitable exit ? then I get too many unreasonable exits if no sometimes it gets bounced from the pivot hmmmm... tough logic ...

See this post Answer 3

The system allows both. You can void an entry if with certain pip distance and you can also exit based on certain pivots. The manual has more information on the particular settings

I agree with you, back-testing and forward-testing maybe a little different (although difference is not so big and we can get the whole idea), but at first we should make our best set-file based on back-testing and then run it on demo to find out further weaknesses, and it's not that simple to run all combination of different settings and pick the best one, at least not for me. If it is so simple for you, I would be appreciated if you make one for me that would be profitable in one month on back-testing.
Anyway it takes years to forward-test different settings, because if you find one profitable today, tomorrow it would be losing, and if you find one profitable this week it can be losing another week or another month so it can even take a century to forward-test one setting after another. And that's why back-testing is for.
Afterall, this is my opinion, and I know you meant to help and we are all here to help eachother, I hope at last we can come up with something, and even if we can't get this EA to work, it was a lot of experience for me.
Good Luck

I thought about making a script to go through all combinations of signals in strategy tester, which is completely possible but the time it takes to run each setting and the amount of settings makes it impossible lol Just got a question for you guys , does the DVeperiod setting in Damiani_volatmeter means time frame and the value should be in minutes ?

Yes, It allow you to set the timeframe you want to test against, and yes you would use minutes to specify

M1 = 1
M5 = 5 etc etc etc

Edit.... when testing i found that using the DV on the M1 (no matter what TF the EA was running on), provided the best results

Different combination has different results, for me with some combination when I use DV it does filter some bad trades but it also filters some good ones too, and at last the result get worse (maybe some changing in DV setting could have helped but I didn't try)-(I've just checked it on 1min). But with some combination it works great.
It depends on your setting so it's worth trying both ways or you can just put it on your chart and check it visually to see how it could have acted.
Anyway I'm still working on the EA day and night but I prefer not to post so much. I'm waiting for the new version.

Hey everyone,

I am having trouble getting the EA to trade during the Asian session - it says Outside Trading Hours. I've tried both 1.32 and 1.34 with the setting of 23000800 for Session 1. I've tried every other combination of time and the only one I can get to work is 00002400. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I can get my Aussie pairs to trade only Australian and the Euro pairs to only trade the London but for some reason the Yen pairs will not trade when I give it a specified time. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Brett

if i understand correctly, then does the session-function only during in the ea, but not with the backtest.

if I'm wrong, sorry. ;-)
