Paulus, I read the first 200 pages of the thread and then all of a sudden everything started to die.

For some reason TudorGirl left, not sure what happened there but I don't believe that she had a double identity. I myself am an engineer and there is no way a normal joe scammer could know all of the stuff that she posted.

She did awesome work with the indis and the ideas, I'm going to investigate her ideas myself and see if I can make anything of it.

As of the base strategy, it is good when combined with S/R areas and normal patterns etc

One question Paulus, why are you not making money with this strategy? I see you are participating on other threads so I take it that you are not succesful with this.

hello TudorGirl,
I have read the different threats regarding the Indie Trading system which seemed to be very interesting. As I have just entered into this forum, would it be possible to give a summery with the latest version of the system.

I would be grateful if you could let me know on which currency pair/timeframe this system works the best and also add the system working on the MT4.

Thanks for your great work,

Didier

does this system only be used on 5 min or any other TF?
does this system only be used on EURGBP or any other pairs ?
A chart helps those who can read it.

All this is based on the CCI with period of 50 (colour change).

So the question is can we use CCI with period of 50 only on this pair on 5 m or we can use elsewhere too.

Anyway this thread is dead by now, because it moved to another thread here on FF, because the thread expanded so much becoming unreadable.

This indicator is based mainly on CCI, if you only trade TM color it is like trading CCI, it works fine in trending market but kills you in ranging. I have used this indicator in a custom EA and didn't find much use for it, was replaced by better way of defining a trend...

I quite like TM although I like anything that changes colour. I once did a comparison on 3 completely different indicators and put them on one chart. (I have the chart somewhere-I will try to dig it out). The chart pretty much showed all 3 indicators signaled identical entry points give ot take one period/bar.

Similar with trendmagic. It looks great but is it any different than something else? Probably not.

Just put CCI next to TM you can see 100% correlation with TM color vs. CCI 0-crossing. Problem with TM comes when CCI crosses 0-level and TM will redraw, so what you see on history chart is not what you see on live trading! I used TM (actually just CCI) in one EA and solved the redrawing by just programming a treshold margin around 0-level, so inside this margin no buy/sell signals only on crossing treshold up or down.

getting back to trading - can anyone help with an indicator that signals when two trend lines (like supertrend or combo indicator attached) cross?
Other indicators previous posted do the same job so ANY mtf trendline cross will be great.
Thanks
George

Odd.

This is the second notorious Edgetrader based thread, both over 3 years old, both pulled out of deep archives and bumped to the top within the last 3 days.

Edgetrader was a con man of many names and disguises.

Put your money in a safe place. I smell a rat.

Here's the other one that got bumped.

Hi there,

I'm new on this forum (a little too late?).

I've just recently implemented an algo based on the TMI in my own backtesting system (C++). You can see a video below:

Inserted Video

The first thing that I noticed, as already discussed numerous times here, is that the original indy is good at making new entries but not necessarily at exiting. Right now my algo tries to maximize profits by always taking two identical positions (short/long, lot size) at each new entry point detected by the TMI, where one of the two positions has a T/P order with it while the other one does not. This allows us to at least take some profit when the indy detects a new entry point and the price moves accordingly but the profit does not get realized as the price starts to rewind.

I have uploaded an extended version of the video that I posted above (the algo is slightly improved).

Inserted Video

Here is the result of the backtest:

* Test period: 2013-01-06 - 2013-06-28
* Currency pair: EUR/GBP
* Lot size: 100,000 (standard)
* Initial balance: $5,000
* Latest balance: $18,839 (+276.8%)
* Total pips gained: 1,384
* Number of entries: 130
* Winning percentage: 48.5%
* Profit factor: 2.13
* Average profit per winning trade: $414
* Average loss per losing trade: $183
* Maximum drawdown: $2,004

It's not bad at all, but if I had calculated the maximum drawdown based on the unrealized P/L instead of the balance then it would have been enormous (as you can see in the video around 01:00 - the loss luckily didn't get realized as the price started falling again), which implies that the algo needs to be more "stabilized." Still, it clearly shows that the TMI works.

Hi surfeur,

I found the TMI for MT4 tidied up by TudorGirl at here. I first tried grasping how the indy works by reading the MQL4 code and subsequently ported it to C++ in my custom backtesting system. Although the video does not show anything, the system supports MTF. (By the way I forgot to mention that the TF used in the video is 3 hours.)

The reason why EUR/GBP is traded using the TMI is because the ccy pair tends to have more "drifts" than others, but obviously it is not guaranteed and it depends on the market condition as well as the TF. My system should also work with other pairs that have clear upward/downward trends but at this point so far I only have tested with EUR/GBP.

I will post results of other pairs soon.

Yoshi

Hi Yoshi,
Can it be used on Range Bars or Renko range bar charts (both offline)?
I mention this because the range can be set to obtain the best results and a controlled risk stop loss.
Keep up your good work.
Regards
George
