Sorry to hear that Tony. Brokers never played clearly and don't like transparency. For a few times I have faced similar issues. What broker do u think to give a credit next time?

Bad to hear about oanda's slip. I think you should try the AMP_FUTURES.
I start to use the AMP for 4 mo. ago, I did a lot of trades (dax-dow-oil) and there was no slip.
I use the amp with CQG with multicharts, it is only 15$/ mo and 15 EUR/ mo for the feed and the multicharts (platform) is free.

Perfect company for your style, U should try them -firstly in demo-.

Thank you. Now looking for a new broker. Slippage occurs on GBP/CAD too. Oil never used to slip on me like that. Gone!

Never was like that. Times changes everything.. new regulations new brokers actions. Everything remains in movement we have to survive. I will find a reliable broker.

I looked for a best broker like 3 months with a no slippage. Unfortunatently,they always offer stp or ecn accounts as known works with real market ticks,slippage always happen with this kind of accounts. Brokers dont like news traders.The only way to find reliable and no slippage broker is to test them one by one.Share your experience and results with us.

What is your experience with them? Is this futures broker? What about forex pairs and slippage on currencies?

Hi Naokia, how are you?

So, the AMP -yes- futures broker. This is an "other way" of trading, but I know, if you try it, you never want to trade with the others anymore.
There are some differencies, firstly I need to say the margin req., it's more than fx brokers. If U want to trade with DAX index, it will 2500USD intraday, if U want to hold the position it will be 22.000$ (margin). This is the most "expensive", but the are mini indexes too, the are cheaper (like mini dax only 7500$, intraday only 1500).

In addition, if you want to trade in futures market, you need to pay for the feed and for the platform. I use multicharts platform, it's free, but I need to pay for the feed 15EUR/mo and 15$/mo, but If you want other platform, not sure that it will be free, so you need to check it here : http://www.ampfutures.com/trading-in...orm-data-fees/
I use the multicharts -as i said- it's good for mee, this is not the best/professional, but I can do everything with it what I want. If you want, U can choose other.
You can try all the platforms in demo acc. they give 15 day demo account.


Withdrawal : fast and 30usd.
Minimal depo : 500usd.

Slip : i did not see slip in the last 4 months. Never! (index-oil-fx pairs included).

My favourite thing is the DOM, the Deep Of Market, it's very simple, very fast better than the one click trading in metatrader(s).

The acc. opening very simple, depo-withdrawal are fast.

Haha thats like asking "guys i need holy grail, please show me".. no LEGIT broker will have no slippage during news.

Hi,thanks, good! Thanks for detailed info. Futures broker isnt compatible with this system in my opinion. We need to find mt4 broker which has deep liquiditiy

I trade the news year round with all the main currency pairs but this thread made me laugh harder than I have in a while. You guys literally are gambling like someone who goes out and plays the slot machines. Its much better to wait for the news to come out and quickly place your trade in after.

Here are the guidelines.
Check events from FF
Ten minutes before the events time load up your platform, bring up your currency pairs
A minute before the news comes out get two (preferably) limit orders ready at about ten pips south and north of where price is trading.
When news comes out good or bad, click and place your order.

Yes, you may not catch the entire pip movement but it is better than a 50/50 coin flip approach where if it doesn't go the way you gambled on your out 20 pips for sure. When price does move 100+pips though using this method, you'll catch on average 70 to 80 of them without having to risk that 20. Wait a few minutes after you place your first trade and set a stop loss 10 pips below where the price is trading.

IMO market orders get the maximum slippage. Limit orders don't have as much slippage but it will still happen. The only way around slippage is by being in the trade before the event happens.

Another way to trade the news is to straddle it with a long and a short. Place your stop loss 10 pips above and below market price. This way you will always catch the move. I only do these trades on news that I know is going to cause very big movements immediately and a few hours to a day after. You have to be careful though with straddling news events. Sometimes setting your stop loss 15 or 20 pips out is a better decision than just ten. You'll take a 15 pip loss immediately but you'll always catch the entire move. So I caught 150 pips minus the 15 I had to give to make sure I was in. Big deal.

Hey Bsmile, I trade very similar to what you are saying for most of my news trades. Normally using Amazing EA to place my orders but you can get massive slippage when there is too many big players in the mix, like during the NY and LD cross over, or when there is little liquidity like NZD news trades. I would be interested to know what broker you use to be able to trade news all the time using limit orders and get very little slippage. By the way I'm sure you realize that your 10-15 pip stop loss order becomes a market order when executed and will get the same slippage treatment as a market order.

This strategy isn't bad and better than a market order hedge by using both longs and shorts. The maths would stat that the hedge trade is better but only if you don't take into account the risk of a double stop loss with a large whipsaw. Which happens a lot more than people would admit.

Either way there are many news trading strategies that can be very profitable but it comes down to a broker that will let you trade like this for long periods of time. Slippage and widening spreads are the variables that are on the brokers side and if they want to make it hard to make pips then they can.

I am also a news trader. Started off with sraddling and, after a good start, got fried. I said at the time that I would never trade news again but early habits don't die easily. After following this thread for some time and VVFish, I decided to have another go at news trading again.

Last year, from Feb to Dec, I managed over $400% return. Yes news trading is profitable but it has to be approached cautiously. There is no way I could go about it Tony's style as outlined in this thread. There are other ways which are less risky and, if you have watched news long enough, have high strike rate. For me it is not how many pips I make, but how much money. I approach each trade based on the news results and reactions to the news.

I realize it does. Sometimes I experience a few pips of slippage using them but not everytime. I've been using limit orders as a sort of stop loss as well. The only problem with using them that way, is the price can jump your desired exit price and not take you out at all. Trial and error my friend. I'm glad the whips aw effect doesn't happen too frequently. It seems to happen more when a high number of retail traders are expecting one outcome. They place small spaced limit orders, price moves and it's a small domino effect in the opposite direction of the news. The fundamentals will always win out and price goes in the right direction. 
 
I use an American broker called TD ameritrade. They are very good. I do experience some slippage but not consistently. Market orders give the brokerage room to use slippage to their advantage. I always recommend using limit orders to enter news based trades especially very high impact ones.
