Don’t ask how I landed on this one, it was quite circuitous lol.

Guitar work on the original studio recording was by Alan Tarney, born in the UK (but lived in Oz when he was a teen, before returning home later).

Alan was a session muso around the 70’s, then played bass with the early Shadows. As a session muso he had teamed up with ex-Twilights member (an Oz band) Terry Britten and they had backed Cliff Richard.

Alan went on to write and record Cliff, and he then went into production for him, as well as producing David Cassidy’s comeback album (plus one production credit for the Hollies).

Anyway, prolific songwriter Charlie Dore had this well known winner, that I listened to just this morning lol.

[An ode to the radio days where we had our fave DJ’s who played our fave songs.

Yes. Listeners were able to write a letter to their DJ – pre email lol - and request that he play a certain song during their show, and of course get their name mentioned.

“Pilot of the airwaves
Here is my request
You don't have to play it
But I hope you'll do your best
I've been listening to your show
On the radio
And you seem like a friend to me” ]

1979. Charlie Dore - Pilot Of The Airwaves

The David Gilmour Guitar Collection...
An auction against the Climate Change. (Profit: 21,5 million of dollars)
"I'm with Greta Thunberg", said Gilmour, "I hope my guitars will play again in a saved world!"

Ah!!! His "Black" Telecaster... sold for 4 million!!! Yes that's right. 3.98, to be precise.

From the “Walk Under Ladders” album

Jerry Marotta is prominent here tappin’ on drums (Jerry also played session on albums by Peter Gabriel, Stevie Nicks, Ani DiFranco & Elvis Costello)

Tony Levin, on bass, did some 500 album session recordings. Yes he played on around 500 albums!
He sessioned for Alice Cooper, Paul Simon, Dire Straits, Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Warren Zevon and Bryan Ferry amongst others.

Some big birthdays today, must remember the tail end of June in the future lol.

Jeff Beck was a great blues musician, got quite avant garde later, including this offering.

The gal on bass here, Tal Wilkenfeld was born in Sydney and left Oz for the USA when she was 16 years of age to study electric guitar.

At age 20 in 2006 she was invited on stage by Derek Trucks Allman Brothers and she was tossed a bass guitar and jammed to "Elizabeth Reed" with them.

Tal sent a recording of herself in that performance to Jeff asking for an audition for his band. Unreal.
