I have come to the conclusion that it is not necessary to have the day count that I attempted to show with the charts yesterday. You can essentially do a day count with Day X Longs/Shorts. The setups SB uses can be used in 2 or 3 day setups without knowing the day count.

This method is composed of two main aspects that work well together.

The first is of course the HOW/HOD/HOS and LOW/LOD/LOS market action. With the awareness that when you reach these levels, many of the breakouts become failed breakouts. When it comes to a day count to deal with these areas I think the 3 Day Longs/Shorts (which sometimes is only 2 days and not very common 4 days - it is trading after all) setups.

The other part, which makes up many of the setups, is the pump/dump. This is where they move price in one direction, often in a grinding manner, not always, then many times you get some type and length of consolidation - think zeppelin - for a move in the opposite direction.

I agree with you Mark...I use a very simple Day count.. It has to be obvious to me without all the nuances. Starting off with Mon and only if plainly and easily visible on the charts 15m or 1h I will carry over the day count from prev week... And it has to set up in my session of NY or I just trade my normal 1hr opening range. BUT when a nice day 3 reversal sets up with all the other factors I look at... It does add confluence or context I guess you can say... Or a Day 2 continuation with the trend..

So many ways to slice the pie up eh! I really dont believe there is a "set in stone" correct count of days....Whatever works for us individually...

Sunday ramblings.........

Yup. I'm thinking the more important Fridays would be the pump/dump days or a clear count as you say.

This, the count part, is more of a thought experiment for me now. Just following the general Weekly Template should more than suffice.

I am working on something I think is interesting. The idea came from SB. I think it can be used every day going into Asia. More when I put some charts together.

When you go from theory to practice the need to produce content lessens. Means I don't have a lot to explore anymore. Just refine what I know.

In between phase 1 of the SB deep dive, I was also tweaking my system. I have mentioned "momentum" many times. I have also mentioned my opinion of how price and the Hulls interact and that price moving through the MA in the apex/floor type cross is a momentum move. Then I saw this post

Flying Dutchman | Page 325 | Forex Factory

and knew I needed to add the Kijun. Because the Kijun is nothing more than the 50% point over how many periods you choose, it fit perfectly in a "momentum" type system. Above/Below = Buy/Sell.

Kijun and Ichimoku has always always intrigued me... Its something that I believe can be of great value
used in the proper context... Some very successful Ichi traders out there...

Ive as well like filters like a Kijun or a Hull that filters a buy/sell into a hard rule..

I finally got them both together. Going to give this a go on the MES in the am. Think it will do fine. I need to post some rules I guess. Maybe let everybody figure things out like I did ...

I tweaked everything to a base of 30. It smooths things just that little touch.

Waiting on the NY Box to end, see if this thing - MES - get some direction. That should give the G-J some direction. At least that's the theory.

Only question is the current area going to top? Or has the LOW been set and we are grinding north? MES is at PML hitting from beneath.
