EDIT: I originally set up this thread for 2 reasons ... firstly to help those that were asking for it by showing them how to setup the spreadsheet or any other to import the info in the exported sheets ... I modified it to show both the FxPro and IBFx pairs because at that time Trader101 was often giving examples of trades he had taken using his method, showing sometimes FxPro examples and sometimes IBFx ... so I thought it might be useful to see both on one sheet.

This thread was never meant to offer yet another system for monitoring the Trader101 setup... there are two great ones out there already for that. ... please see my post#24 of this thread for the rest of this ... thanks

-----------------------------------------
EDIT: I may be jumping the gun a bit people but it seems that the main originator of this style of trading, Trader101, has decided to make the IBFx Pairs the 'Universal Pairs' for any on going development ... this solves a lot problems regarding indicator development and allows us all to concentrate our efforts and analysis of this new method of trading in one unified direction... So my current advice to any newcomers is to open an IBFx account and focus your studies on the threads below regarding the methods as well as Orest's and Crodzillas ongoing developments on their threads.

----------------------------------------

Just a short thread for all the people who have PM'd and emailed me regarding their setup problems with the spreadsheets and DSN script exports.

Firstly Acknowledgments.

Of course to Trader101. Julius Thank you for sharing the results of 2 years work with all of us here. Truly an extrodinary new way of observing the markets. Many Many Thanks Mate.

Hope I’ve got the names right … PM me and I will fix if not.

Franco … corvogrigio … Thanks for the Original version of this Spreadsheet … Looking forward to the next versions.

Luke …. hndymann … Thanks for the Conditional Formatting rules … a Brilliant way to observe slot jumping … that saved me from embarrasing myself with a nasty code module that the truly gifted (Yourself, Orest, Crodzilla, RonaldRaygun) would have wet themselves laughing at … thanks hndymann.

Ian … ianf0ster .. Thanks for the PipToDollar multiplier rules … they seem to be working fine … (another great Limey contribution ).

This spreadsheet does NOT replace the IAs that you need to set up each week ... You will need the ProfitCalc for its trend advice and whatever goodies Julius is kind enough to share with us in future versions.

However it does allow you to:-

1) OverRide the Sunday Midnight (GMT) imported file Opening prices ... with any opening prices that you like ... to match your IAs... to match Julius... to do daily's .... ect.

2) Observe multiple IA opening times for 5 weeks back for both FxPro and IBFx pairs.

The Spreadsheet shows PipToDollar conversions that should exactly match any IA you have running if you have set the open prices in ImportSheet1 to these opening prices ... Totals are without Swaps but should match Julius's ProfitCalc.

All scripts and Screenshots are for FxPro demo account IA purposes. The difference between FxPro and IBFx is marginal so should not make that much difference ... please feel free to correct me if I am wrong here.

I find it is best not to use the Auto Sort too often ... this give hndymans condtional formatting a chance to show you the slot movement.

I am considering putting in a slot movement history ... showing the last 3 slots that the pair occupied... but obviously this will only be valid if you keep the sheet open 24/7 and not sure if it will show much more than the formatting.... comments please.

The rest of the sheet is self explanatory really... Please feel free to PM me, post any comments or complaints ... the first will be appreciated ... the latter ignored.

EDIT: Bug in 1.1 now on 1.2 ... TextImport Connections for NZDJPY AND NZDUSD were not set up .... Sorry ... this will mean you will have to go through the TextImport File selection set up again if you have not done so already .... That should be it for ImportSheet1 .... I hope.

Firstly you need to run the Dsn_5barsONLY_QuoteTooExcel.mq4. This is a slightly modified version of the original that exports only the Last 5 Sunday Midnight (GMT) to your experts/files directory/folder.

So copy the script file to your script folder in your demo install... re-open your demo and drop the script onto any chart. This will create the csv files in your experts/files folder.

Note: This script needs to be run manually each Monday to get the previous days Sunday Midnight Close.

Make sure DDE on your FxPro Demo platform is set to True.
Open the Spreadsheet ... Say yes to Macros ... and also say yes to the Data Import and Data Refresh ... you will get errors but just cancel / continue untill the spreadsheet opens.

Goto ImportSheet1 ... it will look different to the screenshots below because I took the screenshots before I modified the sheet ... but the procedure is still the same.

TIP: Turn off the DDE for now .... this will mean that the tick updates dont overwrite / blank the adjustments you are making to the sheet.

The following steps need to be done to all 16 Ranges in turn ... Make sure you set the Thousands separator to Blank in step three of the TextFile import wizard ... this setting alone can mess everything up !!.

Open explorer and move to the directory that contains the exported files in your demo install experts/file.

first screen shot shows the new files viewed in Wordpad.

copy the string on the top of explorer that shows the location of YOUR directory/folder.

copy this to notepad and ADD A BACKSLASH \ to it.

you will be adding this to TextFile import dialog box for each of the Ranges.

Back in the Spreadsheet.

You need to set the open, high, low, close, cells for each of the 5 rows in the range to the correct decimal places for that particular currency pair.

Make sure you only select these cells as shown in the first screenshot.

RightClick ... select Format Cells from the dropdown. then Number.

If you using the spreadsheet above this may allready be done ... but check it anyway ... in case your excel has changed them.

Now you need to select the entire Range for this currency pair as shown in the screenshot.

Make sure you get the range exactly right ... once you have selected it you should see the named range cell in excel top right show the range you have selected.

Then rightclick and select Edit Text import from the dropdown.. this will start the TextFile Import wizard. Showing you where the current range is looking for the imported file.

If you are using the above sheet it has my file structure string in there ... this is what you need to change to point to your experts/file folder.

so copy the string from your notepad into the FIRST PART of the string that is in the dialog box allready ... make sure the string has a \ on the end of it and that you dont overwrite the file name that it is looking for ie ... 100% RollOver_GBPUSDW1.csv.

Then hit "Import" to start the Import wizard.

If you have selected the range correctly and correctly inserted the FileStructure string pointing to your file on your pc ... you should have started the TextFile import wizard.

Hit Next twice to get to Step 3 then hit the "Advanced" button AND SET THE THOUSANDS SEPARATOR TO BLANK.

Now do it all again for each of the 16 Ranges in ImportSheet1.

And thats it .... Save the file... close it.... turn DDE back on ... re open the spreadsheet ... yes to macros ... yes to Import ... and yes to refresh ... should have you opening without any errors.

Good idea to make a copy of this file once set to you expert/files location ... I dont know about you but I am always deleting cell contents that I shouldnt ... moving on .... then wondering why the sheet isnt correct anymore.

Any future additions to the Spreadsheet should not need you to go through this each time ... you should just be able to copy Sheet2 and Sheet3 to your setup version and youll be good to go.

NOTE: The script for exporting files should be run after Midnight(GMT) Sunday... sometime Monday morning ... before you open the spreadsheet.

Hi LateComer..

the dsn script is a script ... it goes in your script folder ... re open demo and drop it ( the script) onto any chart ... that should do it ... it will then run creating the csv files in your experts/files folder..

Ok Mate

I have noticed that there may a problem with Version 1.2

The EURCHF In the ImportSheet1 (Range A11:I17) is actually for EURGBP

Then there would be a pair missing EURCHF or EURGBP depending on how you look at it

Anyone else have this problem

Sorry Gary I cant seem to find a Problem ... is it causing you problems ... is your version not loading up the correct data for sheet3.

see screen shots below .. of ver1.2 I just downloaded to check ..

seems OK to me ... the numbers of the range are VERY simmilar ...

but please dont get me wrong Gary.. I appreciate anything like this being pointed out and I dont pretend to be a professional programmer ... I can just do a few things and learn as I go ... so any tips you may have would be great.

Cheers mate.

Hi Dave,

I sent u the files.

Surf them as u like

Notice

1 first sheet has data

2 secnd The T101 with a reference date back to 24 hours and the track in last 16 hours

3 the third is the index dollar compared with other pairs of the basket of USindex plus aud usd and nzdusd. The comparison is made in my way with fractions of standard deviations and an arrow giving the position in real time

4 the 4th one is the USindex basket compared with T101 like method

5 the 5th one is a basket of 10 pairs where we have 4 group of 4 currencies each

well u are a smart guy and i dont think u need more to know...hope u'll find some of them interesting..lemme know

PS the 15 min spreadsheet works as the one hour one....always 24 hours back reference and always 16 columns track that in this case made only 4 hours tracking

Not sure what happened. The first one only had 15 pairs and the EURCHF was importing from EURGBP. Maybe hit a wrong button along the way and may have delete a range or something. Anyway downloaded another one looks ok.

Sorry for the confusion

Hi, Dave:

Thanks a lot for your excellent work! BTW, do you know why I always got alert windows as "Local history files are being updated from server. Attempt again in X seconds" and finally the script stopped with "Unable to update local history files."

I am with IBFX and running your Dsn_5barONLY_QuoteTooExcel script. Many thanks.

David,
Your work here is simply amazing. Thanks for all that you have done. Maybe we can work on combining what Franco has done and add a few more features. I am pretty good with excel but macros are not my thing.. i'll have to figure out how to autosort what Franco has done.

Luke
