I strongly disagree with you. Sure, He was probably "the classic arrogant Euro centric bureaucrat" but he is considered the key actor and factor why the Euro and Euro Zone survived. From a strictly monetary policy he was the best central banker of the last decade not only my opinion but among the consensus of experts.

IMO he was actually ahead of the curve the whole time, he was the 1st one to mention bond buying to avoid the bleeding, proposed having a stronger banking regulation and union to avoid contagion (what it end up happening after) and also the 1st one who dare to talk and challenge the Germans about Eurobonds.... at the end after 1 1/2 year, markets, countries and politicians have ended up giving him the reason.

Arrogant and eurocentric bureocrat sure agree, but a master in managing expectations. What else can we expect from a President of the most technical public institutions in Europe? a Private thinking Eurosceptic British CEO that hates Europe and the Euro? ....
