"I have found that what we worked at TSD with digital filters was interesting, but that there are much better ways to filter than using MESA,FFT,or even Goertzel.
When filtering noise,we exchange lag for noise, the ideal filter being one that gets zero lag and zero noise..the ones that approach this ideal, both in trending and ranging markets, usually have overshooting as their distinctive trait.
The 3 attached charts all have the same filter with the same length(20 periods) and phase(100),the behaviour of the filter looks different, because the overshoot(the reason behind the overshoot really ) is what makes it so adaptive..I use its slope to define trend, specially in D1/H4,have tried to do crossovers with same filter and different phases, and the usual apply to close, apply to high/low/midprice..etc and have found that slope is what works better for me."
if anyone knows what this indicator is or how to get it, let me know thanks
thanks a lot
