Hi Hpt - good to see you here. I too find that it pays to make note of pivots on our methods here (I also include supply and demand zones). What I think we tend to do, however, is to almost do it subconsciously and not always realise that it has played a part in decision-making (or maybe that's just me, lol).

I topped ya'! I got a massive haul of +3 out of it, lol. Just so much indecision, starting with the 06:00-08:00 this morning. If I'd waited for another blink of an eye before closing, I would have had to have scrabbled away all day to get something back.

I'd also have missed out on the +5 I did get. I'd let AU go initially as I figured the move had already happened on the set-up candle (as it had on some of the other candidates) but ended up surfing a move back down over the mid-line, playing the bounce out of the supply zone. Not strictly all DZ but I am taking it where I can get it today. Looks like it may go on for a good bit more but I'll take what I've got, thanks. Needless to say, I'm done for the day now. Some days are just no fun at all.

Aaaaaaand I didn't stop today. This is my first time trading the WH, FB, and DZ all in the same day.

Additional trade:

  1. AUDUSD DZ +8.6 (-3.8-4.6*2+5.4*4)
    The trade was a tiny bit stressful. Shorted at DZ low. Aimed for 5 pips below DZ low. Price kept teasing me. Almost TP, retrace, almost TP, retrace... Price went back up to DZ high. The bid price didn't actually touch the DZ high, but the spread got me out. Sell position was closed and two buy positions were added. Price went back down. Closed the buy positions and added four sell positions. Aimed for 7.3 pips below DZ low based on fibs, but chickened out at +5.

Yes, all the trades I post on this thread are live. I did lower my risk a lot after experiencing some crazy whipsawing. Because I tend to add positions instead of keeping trades in limbo, I can't trade like Billy (1 pip = 1%). At the moment, I'm fine with adding positions when countering, but I do want to try keeping trades in limbo in the near future. That seems like the safer way to go.

So you just keep pounding lots on till all comes good?
What per pip are you trading if you don't mind me asking? Am I pushing it with currently trading 0.5% lol?

If you look at how my own trade ran, you'll see that I tried to maximise the likelihood of getting a long enough move.

As I was looking at taking a short based on the lead-in moves (before the set-up bar formed), I initially ignored the first break south, as having the set up bar close red, I was thinking that I had missed the short move I was waiting on. I also had decided to take UC as my trade choice. That meant I didn't get caught up in the too-short break on AU and sucked into a counter. I then waited for price to trek up through the DZ and flirt with the supply zone again...that was were I was looking to get in short as I now had space for price to move into. That's why I used my Mid-Line entry point.

The quick +3 I got was on the UC I originally chose to run.

I don't have a strict rule on how I add positions yet, but I tend to double the first two counters and then if I have to counter more, I would add maybe two more positions each time. But it gets tougher the more I counter because I have to aim for more pips by looking at larger time frames, fibs, S&D etc... Crazy whipsawing rarely happens, but it does happen. That's why keeping trades in limbo is probably safer. Like I mentioned before, I'm going to try to slowly shift toward not adding positions.

I don't recommend you follow exactly how I trade. I have been seeing consistent profit trading lines, but it has only been 2-3 months with this method. I'm still learning. I'm not in the position to give any advice.

I'm trading a lot smaller than 0.5%. If you're not adding positions and you're keeping trades in limbo, 0.5% should be fine. As you already know, Billy is trading 1%. You should ask the other guys though. I'm not the expert here.

To be fair, half the reasons you have for why your not in a position to advise are the exact reasons I asked! Your at a very similar stage to me and have been live trading for a few months already so know what lies on the road ahead! I don't plan on adding to the counters, I have decided on something else for the moment.

For a change, I am going to post up my DZ charts with the S&D and Pivots included. I have said before - and will say again - that you can trade the set-ups completely ''naked'' (as I did for ages) but this is info I have begun to add as I make subtle adjustments to my way of working, mostly as a result of not finding a robust enough way of finding a directional-bias.

I appreciate that these are the charts as they stand/stood at 21:07 uk time and they will have evolved through the day, so not exactly what I was looking at as I made my decision which pair to trade but they give a reasonable idea of the kind of information I'll be looking at at that time.
