It's not cheap having the best military in the world, and playing world policeman. But the exact percentage of the tax pie seems to change depending on who is reporting it, and what their agenda is. Here's one saying 16%.

Not sure where those no's come frm P but I think 50% is nearer the mark - the US tax take is abt 1.2 tr and Defense spending abt 600b ie abt 50%(from Wikipedia) Or to put it another way - more than the rest of the world combined.

The people behind this video seem to be claiming crisis acting for the manchester bombing which is absurd. The whole concept of crisis acting is absurd especially when deaths are involved.

A friend of mine lost someone very dear to her in that bombing.

Yes! But I thought the 3000 had recently become 25,000? Anyhow, let's do it! Glad to see that they are using the law for the first time now of not letting them back in.

I agree but you have to separate the wheat from the chaff. The whole crisis acting thing falls under the same umbrella as flat earth for me. I mean, if crisis acting was real, it would mean that the people who are pretending to be dead would have to go into permanent hiding/ leave the country/ have plastic surgery to disguise their identity etc. In this case it would be mostly children so its ridiculous and offensive. Not having a go at you btw, just the video. Also there doesn't need to be any pretending or acting. If the powers that be can bomb civilians in the middle east they will happily bomb civillians on their own soil and make it look like someone else did it. (Not saying this is the case btw)

Agree but we need to recognise that there are many forms of Islam And sects within each Shia and Sunni/Wahabism are totally different beasts.

And I still don't buy the random suicide nutjob story.

I was in two minds about making this public, but I think you all should know. I have been in correspondence with Twee about just that and I'll paste some of the relevant bits here:

We appreciate your feedback about the news and although it may not be recognized each story all the way to our entertainment stories have a financial angle.

I can assure you successful high-level traders do not engage in political/religious biased debates. They may have a perspective but they are never attached emotionally to these topics when it comes to trading. Politics and religion have been debated to the death for thousands of years and although many remain firmly affixed to their belief systems, this is bad news in the context of trading. This is exactly why we have we have policies that are against the discussion of it. They rob one of their focus, especially when illogical debates arise from it.

Unfortunately these topics have blurred the lines between finance so we must report them but its really easy to get drawn into the specifics rather than the effects. Thats what has led to the back and forth commenting on these heated topics. We loosened the reins to allow these comments for these unprecedented times and now its time to rein them back in.

We have an initiative to crackdown on the political commenting which will be rolled out shortly so hang tight. Sometimes one must read between the lines, especially for the entertainment stories however, our mandate has remained the same since the inception of FF.


My response:

I fully agree with you that successful traders' political bearings have no influence on their trading. However, I would like to point out that successful traders are less likely to talk about trading and avoid forums, not because they do not want to help or give advice, but usually they will face much opposition and criticism.

Where I do have an issue is that I hear time and time again that FF is a trading community and the discussion of politics has no place in it; that it is a distraction and you have policies which forbid it! Then why on earth do you solicit our political opinions then when you post such articles and invite us to comment? You cannot then complain when you get what you ask for!

As I said before, many of us find that very confusing. We would appreciate it if it was made clear one way or another, with actions and words supporting the same case. We look forward to seeing the forthcoming changes.

Where that leaves this thread, I have no idea, but I want to let you all know that if anything happens to this place, it's not my doing!
