I agree mate, impeachment is a long shot, but the can of worms has been open, and these things tend to feed on themselves...I think both side realize that its probably the worst thing that could happen right now......

Also worth noting, is in the case of Trump war mongering- that will not clear risk but shift it to other outlets. Therefor, dollar may reverse, but JPY* and other risk assets will still be bought. EURO is coming on the scene as the next best risk asset next to dollar, so depending on the political risk events associated with dollar, EURO will either chop or continue the course. Chop or continue for the EURO as a risk asset will be a relatively easy to spot via Dollar

Exactly... though i think there is a lot more math behind the scenes than perhaps you are giving credit for; someone on the team made the call in the run up to elections that changing the tone around Muslims would win votes. It may have annoyed 'X' amount but they figured 'Y' would be more inclined to vote over such rhetoric. I don't actually believe DT is racist... If you are in presidential race, you are already prepared to do 'whatever it takes' to get the job done, if that meant to rustle some Islamic feathers, that was the path they chose.

In any event, I think you are yet again putting the cart before the horse (as you once did with your bitcoin summary) and assuming Iran is the play.

Hey everyone, I am wrong on this one and will have to take a loss on this. It's better to be completely honest, and cut your losses so you can re-evaluate rather than be driven by your ego and continue to hang on to a trade that goes the opposite way which could eventually wipe you out, learning to cut trades that go the wrong way is part of being a trader.

it wont be that quick (in my opinion of course). I think the fact that congress is a republican one, the disciplinary actions wont be as quick, but as sisse mentioned above, this is a great preview.

You have to consider that no president has ever been removed from office. 2 have been impeached, but neither removed. Nixon likely would have been removed but he resigned.

Also- to impeach a president there are essentially two trials that are run much like bills are- the congress and the senate. Majority rule, both have to rule against Trump to impeach, reps control both. There will need to be irrefutable evidence against Trump to impeach and or remove.

From beginning to end it took almost 3 years to implicate and impeach Bill Clinton.

You're assuming that the Clinton episode had any legitimacy. From beginning to end, it took almost 5 years to find a reason for Republicans to bring a case against a Democratic president. (For a crime that 3 of the 5 Republicans who brought charges against him were themselves guilty of). This case is different in that it goes beyond witch hunt politics. The optics of the matter are so bad that Republicans will have to bring themselves to bring charges against a Republican president.

As gerrymandered as districts are, I can't believe that Republicans are going to want to run again with Trump around their necks. His approval rating is the lowest for any president at this point in their term, and that survey was taken before this week. It's going to keep creeping lower. Nixon resigned because members of his own party went to him and told him that it was over, and that if he stayed to fight, it would destroy the whole party. Trump probably doesn't care about his party, but he does care about his vanity. If he's told that he has a choice of resigning on his own terms, with some kinds of excuse ("I was tricked") or getting prosecuted and convicted and then frogmarched out in handcuffs, I'm thinking he'll take the former. The fact of the matter is that there is whole crowd of people who are going to go. Ryan, for one, has been reportedly caught on tape saying stupid, incriminating things. I'm betting that they'll all go in the same week, rather than drag out the whole ordeal and end up getting spotlit on a weekly basis.

The markets are having their say. Apparently, donors are too. If there are any sound Republicans left (which is doubtful btw), no way in hell do they let this drag out for 3 years.

special counsel selection will calm things down - these things take a long time - many months, and I have heard it might take a couple months for him just to get started. We might slip some more but I don't see a steep slide for US stocks, not yet anyway.

Yeah by 'speed things up' I mean many months like Watergate as opposed to many years like Hummergate. Wasnt it like 12/14 months after special counsel was appointed before we saw the back of Tricky Dick? Quick compared to needing dems to pick up enough seats in midterms to get a ball rolling.
