Why not use Bill Williams alligator its a standed indicator in MT4 just cick on indicators bill williams and you have it . It clearly defines ranging and trending markets I am about to try it myself

That is merging 2 x 4 H candles into 1 x 8 H candle

In your imagination that is, MT4 doesn't have 8 H candles

But it easy enough to do, look at open to close and you know if it is green or red

Thanks Erebus - I have read somewhere that there is a way to make 8hr and 12 hr candles on mt4 but age has allowed me to forget where.

By the look of the chart it seems that the candles themselves are computed from MA(8), so it's a variant of heiken-ashi I guess.

MA8= moving anerage 8 days

so if price close>ma 8 then candle is green, so we go long
