was out last night at a friends party and finally met someone else personally that does what i do (FX), but how's my luck!! he has worked in this for 30 years and is head of a team in london, i thought if i ever meet someone else doing this i would have a load of questions to ask but i did not, i just wanted to try to confirm that i am doing the right thing so we just chatted generally about how we both trade, turns out i trade in a very similar way to him with the obvious difference being that i have to wait to see the momentum of people like him targeting areas/stops/orders before i can trade and he hunts for weaker traders as fti used too, when i explained my journey and where i was now he was amazed that i was were i was without any hands on/formal training, i explained i was lucky enough to have found fti and his thread so most of my training was based from that, what a nice guy he was, he said that he meets up with other bank/fund managers once a month for drinks/dinner to chat about things and invited me along whenever i want, wow just have to say thanks for my lucky encounter. what an opportunity.

Nice spy huh.

I met a guy online who worked for large London bank on GBPUSD only - he had no clue though how they traded as he was treated like junior lackey - he said a friend told him - eventually after he had left the bank and after much trying out of many rigid solutions - how to trade - but from his posted examples I knew he had it wrong except for a trend inside a trend type of thing. TBH he was a horrid person IMO using people as he required so not sure he ever found out how to trade.

The first time I came to FTI thread I knew this was where I needed to be - well after thinking he was a bit weird TBH but I was so wrong.

thanks , i will be going down this road with my approach to document my trades then i think rather than the idea i posted about another thread. as i said it is way easier for me just to talk through the trade live updating in one post. i was very lucky to be around when our friend fti was still trading, he encouraged us to call/talk through the trades live taking one leg at time, got to see how he dealt with news scaling in/out and roughly what he was seeing as it was real time live.

i always get the impression that fti scares most people that is why they are reluctant to post, but it is in truth quite the opposite, he just wants us to 'learn' by doing and be honest with ourselves about our trading, so we can see our mistakes and move on to be better at this.... as i said on his thread i only joined to FF to post a 'thank you' for all his efforts with his thread, never intended to still be here but you never know where life is going to take you or what opportunities it may provide.

got to go out soon, my granddaughter is getting christened later.

How lovely for you - my niece has just had a little un - we score some off the prezzies list at one end and then another comes on it at start - but she's soooo cute. Have a nice day - hope weather stays nice - don't worry if it rains in Scotland we say it is lucky if it rains on you at celebrations (mnnnn for obvious reasons).

TBH it is hard to ask questions but I love it when peeps do as I get answer or confirmations to what I am doing - which is mostly what I get from here with some nice added insights (thanks so very very much).

BTW Did FTI trade from m15 or m5?

it is nice watching them open their presents, looking in the hall my wife has 2 big bags full so she will busy after the event at her party.

i love scotland, especially further up in the highlands, been to Inverness quite a bit and traveled all over using that as a middle base for some holidays, the gnats and horse-flies down the west coast can be a bit of a pain in places but the scenery is just stunning and touring the distilleries is great fun.

fti traded live on the thread in M5.

he used to say i was the sort that likes setting his own bum alight.... LOL.

Wow, that must be exciting. haha.
You know, who I really really want to meet in real is FTI.

I been reading couple of those books FTI recommended in thread for operators in the markets, ie treasury and quite alot of what they talk about, is already in the thread.
For example the concept of moving money from A to B, and how to mask the large number movements through crosses and other instruments at the bank disposals. I have still 2 books to go, but from what I read so far, it is should be more of the same, just maybe in a different application.
Which comes the saying "A rose by any name is still a rose" I guess this is where AOW training comes in and talk about the limitless variation in tactics. Which is being deployed here, and most importantly, keep the mind open - never rigid.

good to see around again my friend, was starting to wonder what was happening with you, hope all is good with you.

up earlier today 5.30 am (even though is holiday here) to take one of my old car out for an hours drive to find a small water leak (got it now), roads are nice and quiet and it is a big old lump of a car 1947 so no power steering ect, brakes are surprisingly good on it for a 2 1/2 ton car of that year and good power even on hills.

the FX guy i met said virtually the same things as fti as how he can hit stops/orders to move the market and deals with mega money trades in yards, he did say though he may not be able to do it for himself as it throws a whole new aspect on the attachment to the trade that needs to be dealt with, but i suspect he could.

looks like May will win, the others unless they form a coalition are just not up to, got the backing or worthy of the job, a bit of strategic/tactical timing from her with calling this election as the other parties are in disarray still from the fall out of the last election and referendum vote.

Thanks, I am good. Been under the radar, just learning whatever I could.. At moment it is the books that just arrived late April, so I am guessing it is a couple of weeks there of man hours till I will either visit the thread again, or get some gist of "fintech" genre, since I been hearing it pop up quite awhile lately, though I do not see how that is applicable for me, other then the usual MM and MO with AOW that we practise here. At least with the books they help me visualise the market from the market makers point of view when trading.

Hmm, let me guess, a JAguar from the 1940s?

I wonder if they know each other(fti and your new friend), 30 years is a very long time, and I am guessing the circle at tier 1 is small, like what FTI mention too.

good guess very near, its a daimler de27 limousine. mine is one of only 3 left with a windover body. only 65 (all body types) left in the world i believe.

have not asked him, my memory/name thing i get was playing up when i spoke to him and the drink may have had some influence in my forgetfulness lol, when i see him again i will ask, this guy has always worked in london, started at the bottom worked his way up.

he said the algo's would make it easier for us retail (touch and feel) traders to make money as they have a very rigid way of trading.

Wow, rare! Beauty. I always like how these oldies hold up with proper S&M done. I always wanted a mini, just the old school sort, no power steering, manual gear box. Or a M3 E30 or maybe a Golf GTI Mk1. Yea, I will like the E30 M3 on weekends and Golf GTI Mk1 on weekdays. I saw one GTI Mk1/mini in my childhood days, he was really fast and darn, cant get that image out of my head.

A/U....

daily bullish bar... H8 near last session low... H1 near last low and suspect buyers may be lurking here, approaching BRN .7500, update this post as/if any action.

1. M15 new bear momentum bar at 8.45am GMT.... not trade yet.

2. bear bar above taken out (price above) 9.03am.... scout entered.

3 . 'i am wrong' is the H1 last low area.

4. M5 has 3-4 bar rising bull momentum and has new highs.... weak bear retrace (return fire) then price held in tight range, this type of action at the bottom of a run can suggest an order being processed. waiting for more clues........

5. M5 2nd scout entered at the m15/5 lows.... 11.24.... dip into/through the lower range breakout traders to fill the order maybe??.

6. so we have a solid bar into the 'i am wrong area' on M15 so bad timing on my part, will hold these scouts as the BRN .7500 is just below and should provide some support around that area somewhere, i am with the H8/1 current trend and the daily made a much weaker push lower on its last attempt, so it is still reasonable to suspect another move up soonish to provide at least a breakeven trade here..... waiting game now.

7. NY open, M15 3 bar rising momentum off a the double bottom..... watching the retrace for possible entry. 2.30pm

8. M15 bull momentum bar in retrace at 16.15pm added 3rd scout at 16.25pm, will kill quickly if the previous bull bar is taken out.

9. time of day becoming an issue now, have placed a break even stop on the last scout entered above. 17.00pm..... thinking..decisions decisions???

10. ok done... removed all 3 scouts with an overall -2pip loss... my average was .7625... out at 7623, i have 3 option to book this trade,... 17.45pm
wait for price to rise a little and try for a break even overall trade.
use some of a profit i have in G/U to offset a 'booked set' of trades to my account.
bring home my G/U and swallow up this trade booking an overall set as a profit.

now i have more options on my trades i can just set an overnight break even plus/including that very small loss on my G/U and a t/p at the 1.30 (well 1.2995) and leave to run, one action can have an effect on other options when blended together they are countless, my friends will recognise this statement.

yes, i wish had called G/U (or my other trade today even) but calling more than one pair at a time will get very confusing as i have multiple pairs that i trade most of the time and i manage them in an 'overall' fashion as one to book 'sets' to my account.

no news on A/U today/after my trade start that is why i traded it today as safer option if i get wrong.

personally i could only see the short at the end of the sideways pattern, that is why i scouted the lows (m15/5) after that, the BRN being another source of possible protection/support. when an order is processed you may often see a dip/another run to clear the area out, i guess maybe or maybe not this is happening now??? only time will tell, we are so near the BRN i suspect they will attempt at a go to get the orders there.

my G/U i referred to above was stopped out overnight at breakeven+ to create an overall neutral trade with the -2pip from above trade.

so a bit more on some ways i use money management...

there are many many different ways to use this tool, seems from what i read (in my circles) that most just use the conventional fib sequence and levels, another idea to look into that can be of some use to us is using the losing or winning streak to our advantage, this works well on some casino games as well and i do practice this in the demo's they provide to enhance this skill of money management.

so you scout 3/4/5 times on the same or different pairs in row and either kill or break even with them as you were wrong about direction, this really does depend on listening to those scouts though so be careful with this way of attack, you must be getting near/nearer to hitting a run in your favour now (law of averages) but you have lost time (=money) scouting and getting nowhere, so i sometimes use higher skew attacks after my 'badly timed' streak, but you MUST keep a stable mind to do this and listen to those scouts before you attack, you can run up/down the skews in different battles as you win or lose battles trying to work the average (times of -- win/loss) of your streaks into your favour of success/failure. up the skews when you lose and down the skews when you win creating a spiral effect with your money management.

p.s not posting anymore trades until after the french election now.
