Yeah I know what you mean. If you know how to fix them, no problem! Cars, in general have come to represent the alter ego, an extension of the person who drives such nice shiny cars. Of course not all, some like the driving experience, but to others it is a status symbol. America in a way is a lot like this mentality to the point they become bullies on the highway! I will never buy a brand new car again. Pre-certified is a good value for almost any car you want to find.

I'll take a couple of photo's of some of my upgrades. I've always been one of lifes tinkerers, if it does what it says on the tin it does me. Some people into them, they're just not my thing. I am actually giving some serious thought to buying a pony and trap for scooting round town, my Mrs grows loads of carrots so fuel no issue either.

That's what I like about my current oil-burner. It's moderately quick, handles well-ish, and well used even before I bought it ... and I have no issues about parking at <insert typical supermarket> car park.

My home made roof rails. The purpose made one just won't handle 4 kayaks on the roof at once, this one does, has nice carpet finish too

My home made dog guard, can take in and out in seconds and folds in half, none of the usual tightening of knobs required. I think the tubing was an old gazebo we had.

Actually, I can't figure out how to get the rear head rests out (without using a saw or angle grinder!) It's in the way of the booster seat head rest. So, I have it resting on top, beyond the ratchets where it locks in and it rattles a bit. I might stick some sellotape around it . It's a saloon and the rear seats don't move.

Good post. I don't know much about post modernism. My only comment is that in the absence of any god, there really can't be absolute truth on issues such as morality, can there?

Morality exists with or without a god. Most sane people know that it is wrong to kill another human, interfere with a child, steal another persons possessions, plus many others. But if god helps you with your innate morality, no probs. But some gods (not to be mentioned here) seem to think that these immoral things are right and proper
