V2.0 of fxtrade? Or the app? Afaik app hasn't changed much aside from the on screet market order adjustment options and the desktop version just has the new charts along with the new online version you can launch from the account dashboard.

v20 is just another account type but used with the same FxTrade or MT4 app. It allows hedging for instance.

Could anyone help me out real quick and tell me what their quote on the ask price was for EURUSD @ NFP release yesterday? Preferably on a live account. My quote for the candle high was 1.06723 as seen in the screenshot.

I had a streak of very bad luck with my trades lately where my order didnt get filled for ~1 pip or the SL of an open trade got triggered exactly on the pip, only to turn around afterwards. Im no friend of conspiracy theories and just want to make sure, that it's really just bad luck. Any help is much appreciated.

Hm I have the same quote (1.06636) for the bid price. Thank you for your help.

Somebody here, that could provide me with the ask price ? Would be a great help to disperse my doubts.

Thanks for your help. Seems like I hit a streak of bad luck. Had my short trade covered BE @ exactly 1.06723. The widened spread @ NFP triggered my SL on the tenth of a pip.

Just for info, I got a response from Twee that they're going to fix this trade explorer issue with Oanda's v20 accounts.

Hi

I’m having a problem with the OANDA Advanced Charting where it will sometimes save my drawn objects – lines, rectangles, fibs, etc – and then sometimes they’re completely erased.

Has anyone experienced or know how to fix this? OANDA support tells me it’s a TradingView problem.

Thanks

It would seem they are still up to their old tricks. Make no mistake here. The widening of spreads by market makers is perfectly legal depending on how/when it is done. They get away with it because they can claim that markets are volatile and illiquid at certain times. BUT OANDA make their own book (and maybe only offset those traders that constantly win against them into the underlying market). The use of wider spreads particularly at news time does two things.

1) It takes out stops that will either
a) cause a loss for the trader
b) cut their potential profit

2) It prevents traders who have placed limit orders correctly being filled that
a) Exit for profit
b) Enter for subsequent profit.

Of course if the market trades through then that makes little difference...

Both of these activities are supported by the fact that OANDA can see the order book and know exactly where all the orders are both stops and limits. They also know their own position (contra their clients of course since they take the other side) and can use tools like spread widening to improve their position/profit. The spread is part of their edge and as along as they continue to use it in a methodical way they will continue to be profitable against their clients overall.

Add a clumsy and slow platform and you have a successful business model. They are the house - the casino, and the odds are in their favour. It is far from a level playing field regardless of which broker you go to, but at least we can have some idea of the game we're playing because they appear at least more honest most in my experience.

That's BS. They don't take the opposite site, why should they? They just hedge the NET outcome of ALL clients together. That might even be not much as many clients will offset each other. They just earn the spread and make a killing just with that tiny amount without the need of hedging too much.

It might be the wrong platform for scalping. Don't know. But I tend to say that more than 90% of all traders lose money exactly because they think they're smart and can trade that stupid short term randomness and see patterns where no patterns are. That's just how the human brain works.

Has anyone tried Oanda's new commission model? Curious how the spreads look.

I have had a really good time with Oanda. I am only one point of information though and it seems that this thread, all 248 pages, comes up with a mixed review.

I will tell you this, things have at times seemed a little suspicious. I have had similar experiences as other posters. I have had a trade get stopped out precisely at my stop and turn around. Also, I have had trades go in my favor immediately and for a large move! Imagine that... I am not suffering from confirmation bias. Which is: the tendency to search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that confirms one's beliefs or hypotheses, while giving disproportionately less consideration to alternative possibilities.

Be careful, my fellow traders, not to get caught up on the bias train. You will end up "proving" thing to yourself. I recommend keeping a journal, and doing an honest assessment. Stay as objective as possible...

Just stop right there man.

I'm one of those that enter when you get stopped out and take your money.

You have lots to learn. Stop preaching.

You're confusing managing their risk exposure with the mechanics of making their market and extracting their edge.
