Practically, if the parents aren't bothered about disrupting their children's schooling it probably doesn't make any difference.

Hi Verv . Firstly I don't think kids should be taken out of school but understand that holiday costs soar when it's kids holidays time. Clearly the operators can run at lower costs at other times of the year or is it all just averaged out, I'm not sure. Here is how I dealt with it when my kids were younger. If the holiday in the sun was too expensive I didn't keep them off school, I got the tent out and went camping less than 60 miles from my home into North Wales. Many times weather was crap but sometimes it was great, just luck of the draw. Thing is, never bothered the kids because it was still an adventure. So I question who the holiday is really for ?

You are right of course EX and this is the area that needs the shake up. It's crazy that you need licence to drive a car and yet can breed like rabbits without anybody questioning the suitability to be a parent. I know that sounds a bit China ish but the human rights side is all about the right to have children and what you want etc but what about the kids ? They had no choice in being brought into the world by social misfits. These are kind of issues which should be debated, clearly there are people who should not be allowed to keep gerbils never mind parent kids.

Trump has to play along for now as John "the stain" McCain who has spent his entire career as a war monger is out there once again beating the drum for the globalist brand. On the verge of a constitutional crisis if not already there, will be the new crescendo to reach a feverish pitch until it is burning in our ears or the threshold in which humanity must wait for that collective sigh in hopes that justice will prevail! So we continue to ask; How did we get here?

Anyway, just a parting thought along the way in this madness we call "the day before the sh*t storm!"

Everyone believes that Labour's objective is to feed under privileged kids but the picture is starker than that. It is more about social mobility. You see, the first thing that every parent looks at when considering a school are the demographics. The only thing left that is quantifiable is the percentage of free school meals. They want to do away with that information. All about everyone being equal etc.

It's ridiculous really. My younger one gets free school meals as she is in Year 1. But would I miss the contribution? I wouldn't notice it. We are hardly in need. School dinners are really dire. An example would be macaroni cheese which you can pick up the entire lot with one fork and vegetables that start boiling at 9am. I would happily pay triple to give her something decent. But no, we are all the same. So we all end up at the lowest common denominator.

Another thing:
This past week or so I have seen a very different and healthier attitude to kids here in France. My two are going to French ski school. Their boundaries have been pushed and their comfort zones blown; something that certainly would not happen to kids in the UK. Kids at home are wrapped in cotton wool. Four and five year olds here go on chairlifts on their own, up to the top of mountains, just so long as they are sat next to an adult, albeit a stranger. There are no seat belts or safety harnesses, just a metal bar. Hey, guess what, no kid has ever thrown themselves off!

We have a paranoia at home about men helping kids which are not their own. Too scared to. What a warped society we live in. The vast majority are not paedos, if they have grown up with western values, The vast majority would happily help a child. Children miss out on so much.

So is it a wonder we have a generation of snowflakes, too scared to face the world on their own and melt at the first sign of any challenge? Too scared to grab change by the horns and see a bright new future? That's why they are the Remainers. Young people on the Continent want out of the EU. It is clear why they are so different.

Jen, you are a wise parent as I have said before. That is something that comes with being a little older than the typical parent (my assessment) and also something that comes with experience gained from travel and observing other cultures ... including the French who have their own approaches and views.

I have struggled to understand how the UK society has arrived at where it is. People are punished, sometimes strongly, for putting others at risk; and yet when actual crimes are committed there seems little public stomach to slap them. We should learn that our own views are not the only correct ones.

I'm with Stu on a lot of his views. The casualty in all this is that we appear to have a population with no concept of the real world.

I hope you are having a great time with your family, they will remember these days forever.

So they say. "They" as in who are they? Trump's strategy is not so much to go with the narrative, but to send a message to Russia and China (North Korea) that America's credibility is back. However no evidence has surfaced yet confirming Asaad's forces were responsible. Amazing that two days later without such evidence the politicians are pointing the finger. It really makes no sense when Asaad's government is already in a reconciliation phase after soundly defeating most of the rebel army (Isis) who opposed him.
