{quote} And Greyhounds aren't good for stamina. One big sprint and they're done. They are also not at all hardy; little bit of cold and mud and they start whinging, whereas a Collie will go on all day in all conditions.

A long time ago I had a collie. It could let itself out of the kitchen through the interior door. It taught the cats to do the same.

Also at that time we had to chuck the black moggie out when we went to work because it would open the kitchen window.

Cats will generally let you do all the work for them, and in the case of the kitchen-window escape route I found out why.
Black moggie had not learned to curl its tail in, and so the window just clipped the last inch of his tail as he nearly made it off the window ledge.

Ex, your house sounds like mine -- sorta a wild kingdom. We got cats, dogs, fish (indoor aquarium, outdoor Koi pond) bird feeders all over, semi-tame squirrels, Ralph the hog-nosed snake and Rufus the king snake. Rufus lives under a big rock next to the Koi pond and Ralph lives under a storage shed. Course I gotta try to keep Ralph, Rufus and the redhead out of each others way! One high note -- Ralph has gotten too big for Rufus to eat!

Snakes! ...never underestimate those things. There are some interesting clips on youtube of snakes winning against crocodiles and a hungry tiger (might have been lioness).

Domestically we are down to just bird feeders for the small wild birds. This decade (?) the SO's spaniel died of old age. He was 17, so a way past his best-before date. Fortunately our various children have an array of animals, some of which were puppies. Fortunately because that was enough to make us realise that we are past the 'animal' stage. Unfortunately the dogs-in-law have all bonded with us and go mental when they meet us ... including my son's fully grown boxer who can easily knock you down, and always has plenty of slobber to smear on your trousers.

I thought that the German shepherd is still popular in the southern parts of the USA.
Bill is not a common name for this area. Junior is more often used for pets.

Growing up on the farm, animals were part of the mix -- cats lived in the barn (feed room) and kept the place rat free. Dogs slept under back porch and helped herd cattle and let us know if we bout to have visitors. With the exception of a ragdoll cat I gave the redhead Christmas year ago, everything here rescued. Figured long ago I'd rather have a big hearted woman than other way around. The hognosed snake is a real clown. See him 4-5 times a year. When he's "discovered" he rolls over on his back, twist's his mouth around, sticks out his "tongue", shakes and plays like hes in a serious "death spiral". After awhile, he'll look up at me, figure it ain't work'in and slide back under his shed. Quite funny -- don't impress the redhead, however -- her and snakes hurt each other gett'in out of each others way. My house a real circus!

No idea Jen google translate says "Tamponner" = "Stamp" as main ref then "Bump".

I was referring to Thomas The Tank Engine style .

I have witnessed what you mention in Paris and Rome too. Rome worse I would say.

Not particularly ... this method was partly a self-appreciation trip, but was/is also useful for teaching breakout and how to watch for consolidation zones.

There is way too much for a quick read, I was just surprised to find it in the 'recycle' bin.

Yep and that is likely down to not eating whole foods. Packaged crap, sugar, crappy veg oil, low-fat spreads, low fat yogurt all the stuff they say is good for you
