Is there a clear answer on how to deal with these kind of situations or is this where it will always be subjective?

I would consider the marked swings important but then often I find myself going against the more obvious bigger main swing.

It is a pleasure Arjan. When I decided to do this I did not realize the amount of work that it would be but I am having fun. I simply got tired of all of the wannabes offering senseless advice and guidance it's like the blind leading the blind. I never had the guidance and no one ever helped me and although that sucked because it took me years and lots of money to figure it out it forced an ethic in me that I apply to my life.

It also got me here and I am very grateful for that as well. Anyway I am a man of faith and out of frustration one day I spoke to the big man and told him just a little help please. I'm not asking you to solve my problem with this just to point me in the right direction and I will do the work. I also told him that If I ever found success in this that I would find a way to pay it forward. A promise is a promise and I am here paying it forward.

You are a good man as well and always offer to help the younger traders in here. I've also enjoyed our past conversations on Skype we haven't spoken in a long time it would be nice to catch up your skill set has improved big time congrats!

Forget where you are focus on the videos watch them a few times or revisit them as you will pick up things you missed the first time. Watch the live session as it shows how the process gets put together and and I post and comment on every trade I take during my session. There is another live stream on Feb 21 0900 ESt time try your best to make it. There is no need to sign up a link is posted and everyone and just click and enter.

If you have questions or are weak on something post a chart with your question and it will be answer by myself of other traders. If I am satisfied with how someone answers your question I leave it alone and if I need to add to it I do. Hope this helps.

I think those might be old and out of order you can click on my name and go to all my posts and see them there. If someone would like to take it upon to put one together I will post it. But if you watch the videos and the live streams and just watch the daily postings of the live trades you should be fine.

Hello my friend I'm sorry I have neglected you I will make you and everyone a great video over the weekend to attack this chart and situations like this. I know I told you I was going to make one a couple of weeks ago but I've been busy and got sidetracked a bit with some other posts I had to address. Thank you for your patience and I will be making that video between today and tomorrow and getting it up for you guys.

Okay folks popping in more help. FYI even though I may not contribute like I used to I am still behind the scenes perfecting my craft. Had my first profitable month after a major account blow but manage to sweak out 0.51% for January. Here is rub now I am down 19.93% this month much of it is setting stop orders or leaving order running while at work. My direction is correct (for a brief moment)but I can't be here to manage it. Have to re-think this.(duh no kidding)

I have been working hard in various time of the night(2:30am then 4am then up for the of the day for work then come back 6pm-9) with little sleep and working full time trying to fine tune my entry. I have been keeping up with thread, but I am having a bit of trouble with rotation into structure zone. Not sure its the best way to trade but I am a visual/literal so I have been looking for rotation with limited to moderate success. Partly because when they appear I am either between sleeps or at work. If the forum agrees please look at the chart to let me know if price fell into these structure zones would you have taken those rotation candles. Just focus on rotation into zone don worry about trade context. If so, I will copy these into my entry visual plan so when I am trading I can have a reference. Also please send variation of high probability rotation. My goal is to finish the month out with profit and pay for my first 3 month lease with profit. I want my business to sustain itself if this can be achieve then I will be on the road to full time trading. Have a good week group.

FYI. I will be moving to Ann Arbor,Michigan from Charlotte,NC by the end of the year. Wife wants to be near family(I am from south so I am going to freeze my nutsacks off). This will give me an opportunity to find a job in the afternoon so I can stop this no sleep nonsense it starting to affect my trading judgement and focus on successful trading/teaching this fulltime to kids. Been my dream for as long as I can remember. if any here live in the area lets meet and trade together using Damien teaching. We can slap each others hands if we are not following rules. I actually learn better this way. Trading is very lonely and we tend to get in our own way

Damian, thanks but please don't feel obligated or pressured
All your posted lessons make so much sense and it looks so easy on your charts.
The issue I'm having and I think others mentioned it too, is when you see clear swings but then if you just zoom out a bit or look on HTF there's a bigger swing that often goes against the shorter term expectation. Of course, we can just trade in direction of the HTF and shorter term OF so that they are aligned, but it is a technical question about when do we consider an expectation change to trade in the new direction without going against any obvious longer term expectation. Maybe it has also to do with strength/weakness analysis of the short term OF vs longer term OF and to go with the OF scale that shows the strongest intention.

Crap James I completely forgot to send you the examples as we spoke about. I'm sorry man but you won't belief the amount of work an questions I get. I have to do a better job keeping up with everything. I'm going to have find me an intern or something. I will answer this post later today or tomorrow as well I have to go take my daughter to a friends birthday party.

You are going to die up there in the winters. Well the plus is when you are snowed in you can trade!

All good I am pretty self sufficient just need some guidance so I continue to progress. the more examples the better. this will be my begining framework for entry. enjoy the party and I am willing to be the intern

Its a great thread you have here. I am new to trading and l stumbled on your thread when l was looking for trading learning material. I have been reading the posting from the beginning and l have listened to some of your videos ( I am now on page 798--still a long way to go). I must say your approach to teaching is very unique and inspiring. I just have a simple question---- any chance that l can ever catch up with the lessons? Once again you are blessed man to spare the time and effort to do what you doing. God bless!!!

Hello again James. I really like the rotations that are out of the circle I drew on your posted chart. Here are my reasons:

When we speak about a rotation we are looking for a 180 degree turn from the comparison of the previous candle. Not that it has to completely engulf it but a complete change from on side to the other. The Candles outside of the circle display this very nicely. My criteria for defining a rotation candle is:

 

  1. The candle cannot trade above or below the previous candle.
  2. The candle must not trade much below or above it's open (Use your judgement if the wick is large but still withing the trading range of the previouse candle I still do not like it unless the zone is strong).
  3. It has to hold at least 2/3 of it's trading volume.
  4. It has to take out at least half of the range of the previous candle.

I don't like the ones in the circle for the following reasons. Although price did continue on them here are some facts that discourage me from taking them.

 

  1. The candles in this case were buying candles and both trades too far below the open.
  2. They both trades below the low of the previous candle. This tells me that the market still found sellers at that price level that were willing to keep selling at that price. It's a strong indication that there are still strong sellers in the area.

These I consider weak candles and I view them as an invitation more then a rotation. I hope this brings some clarity and I will provide you tomorrow with more examples.

The only way to save yourself time is to watch all the videos and skip the the end and watch me trade live and watch the live streams you will miss some things but you should be able to keep up. Nothing has changed with the methodology over the years. I have been trading this way for about 9 years now. So it has proven what almost every system has failed to do which is pass the test of time. The system will also keep on going strong because it's dynamic and captures what that market is trying to achieve going forward.
