Hi JensItzig, I downloaded your latest version. Works great. However I noticed that I have to reload/refresh at the end of the trading day as it did not, not sure of the word to describe it other than it did not reset for the new day. I used it on only 2 charts one chart was fine but on the other chart the panel was smaller, only half the size of the chart. I had to reload/refresh the chart and everything when back to normal. So basically, at least on my end, there is an end of day problem you may want to look at. Well I hope you upload the the next version with a new expiration date when this current version expires. I am looking forward to continued use of this indicator. Thank you.

Thank you for the bug report. I have looked into the code and the only case where such behaviour can happen is when the day starts with a delay (maybe broker issue when they calculate the rollover) and more then one candle must be calculated within the first tick of the day. I will try to find a workaround for that.

Hi Jens,

Amazing coding technique. Congratulations up front.

Having the volume profile on the right hand side panel is really useful.
But I believe only levels that should be carried over to the right panel from previous days are PVP and VWAP values. Carrying 6 SD bands from previous days doesnt help very much and mostly cluttering the chart imo.

Also as far as I can understand the levels you carried over the right panel from previous days stops the calculation at the end of that day. I believe if we need to carry over SD levels they should be continuous to the current time. Anyway this is just my rambling...

As a result, it looks fantastic.
Thanks for the effort.

Akif,

Hi JensItzig and Akift, you are both very good coders your tools are excellent I use them every day for my trading with success and I have a request for you which I don't know, if you can accomplish it, but here it is.

I want an indicator that works the same like market profile, but when I point with my cursor for every price level a panel would show me the difference of buy/sell volumes in numbers example, if there where the most selling volume the panel would write -200 and if the most where buy orders 200. Can you make it?

Since there is no tick data this is not possible in MT4. In MT5 you have tick data but on the most instruments you don't get the information about buy/sell ticks (depends on broker and instrument). So you only can "assume" if there was buying or selling pressure by change of the price. Unfortunately the MT5 ticks also only changing in bid, so even this will not be exact.

How does this indicator on the bottom of the chart on my mt4 works then? (see Image). << just click on it to see it bigger.
I think it counts how many ticks up and down we had on every bar, if we use this idea for the market profile and count every uptick we had example, from 1.07998 when price touched and bounced x times from the level then you can do it and it would be great to know. I don't care if it is not so accurate as it would be on futures data and other platforms.

Do you really want a solid answer on that? I have no crystal ball that tells me how a given indicator work when i show it a screenshot.

----
I have found the indi you posted. The calculation is that rubbish.

UpTicks[i]=(Volume[i]+(Close[i]-Open[i])/Point/dXecn)/2;
DownTicks[i]=Volume[i]-UpTicks[i];

So no real calculation of anything

I can't post a file of any indicator (the forum does not let me), thank you for finding it. This is not the best code I have seen, but you have the idea right? If not let me tell you what info you want. The indicator I showed obviously counts ticks from the opening of every bar example, 10 upticks from the open, 9 from the close and it attaches it on the bottom window like volume. Now you should do the same thing, write a code that calculates a price level (like the opening of a bar), then count how many times bounced up and down from this price level and find the difference.

The idea of calculation is totally nonsense. In short you substract the points of the candle body from the candle volume. The remaining volume is distributed even on buyer/sellers and then you add the points of the candle to buyers if bull candle or sellers if bear candle. What kind of information do you want derive from that? Nothing!

I don't mean that you should do the same calculation like the indicator does (forget the indicator) you just have to count ticks from a price level! Easy and not a messy job which will give us better information of the market profile.

You DON'T have a tick history in MT4! So the only way would be to let the indicator run all the time to gather them. But even if you got them you don't have the information if the change in price would be forced by sell @ bid or buy @ ask.

Maybe i didn't get your point but since the job is that easy you can start your own indicator for that. For me and my understanding of a good working indicator this will not be possible in MT4 and even not correct in MT5 (and i will bet that's the reason you find not such indicators for that plattform).

O.k thanks for the answer, I understand that you can't count buy and sell volume, but can you count points in time and space? If you can do this then just count how many times a level touched and price left up, or down from that level 0.00001 pips, or more and then find the difference. Sorry, I am not a coder, but I think that there must be a way you can do something.

Maybe you can count volume instead of ticks, or pips? Anyone else have another idea and can make this?

{quote} All my indicators and EAs that are developed for free having an expiration. I don't want to see them bundled in commercial packages. The expiration is always 3 month from last compilation. So if no one discuss and use it there will be no newer version and therefore the indicator will stop then. Why? Here are to many consumer and collectors. If i use my time for the stuff I want that the members who using it giving back their experience with that. So everyone give what he can do best. I want that all leechers, thiefs and time wasters stay...

@JensItzig
Your indicator works pretty well.
The only things i noticed are that the histogram has some minor issues.
The PVP jumps to another high, if the price is were the pvp should be.
Furthermore the histogram grows unproportionally bigger when the price is leaving the distribution. Once the price is back, the histgram shrinks to the right size.

Best
Oliver

Hi JensItzig,

Regarding your indicator I'd like the possibility to have the previous days SD bands and Vwaps (different colors/styles) directly on the chart.

The indicator works very well and I love the volume profile on the right hand.

Great Job, all the best!

You have them on the right side as well. Why painting the chart with endless lines for that? Is there a good reason for this?
