I am building my own indicator to identify trend thru HHs and LLs, but I could make it square shaped (wingdings:110), but that occupies too much chart space.....I need sleek like rectangles...

Basic label code creating a rectangle using "Webdings" and the letter "g" the more g's the longer the rectangle, this is one way of doing it or 2 other ways is to use OBJ_RECTANGLE or OBJ_RECTANGLE_LABEL.

Signal Bars has been updated to work on the MT5 platform - the password has changed and is "FREE_cja_indicator" sorry that I still have to do this but it has appeared to stop people selling it on eBay. NOTE : The name can not be changed in any way or the indicator will not load on the chart.
This is a very basic version of Signal Bars but still has most of the features the mq4 versions have, please take the time to look through the inputs and try it for a while before asking any questions.
It has taken me some time to work out how to code this Signal Bars Display ( not totally familiar with the mq5 code yet ) using the mq5 code so there is every possibility that there may be some issues with it, I have noticed when first loading it on a chart sometimes the number values read incorrectly however a change of time frames updates the data. Please let me know if you find any problems.

Signal Bars mq5 is on the 1st post of this thread.

Thanks for signal bars indicator, I am wondering if anyone has used it successfully to develop a strategy that works. I have been trying for a few days with the following rules with mixed results.

For a Buy:

M1 to H1 all green
Trend on 1hr up as shown by 200 EMA

For a Sell:

M1 to H1 all red
Trend on 1hr down as shown by 200 EMA

Any better ideas would be appreciated!

You are probably using wrong password. The password is "free_at_ff"

I have changed the settings of the MACD to the normal 12,26,9.
The MACD on the indicator shows bullish(Blue), but if I put the MACD on my chart with the same settings it shows bearish (far below the zero line).

Yes are correct however you are presuming that the signal is based on the MACD histogram the Signal Bars indicator uses the MACD / Signal line cross and the cross on your screenshot shows up but below the zero line which is a Dark Green weaker up signal once the MACD goes above zero the signal bars turns to Lime showing a stronger signal. It was done this way as the signals are a lot earlier than the histogram above below zero.
