NOVEMBER: Gold Price Down, Chinese Demand Strong Despite Import Curbs
From the moment Donald J. Trump got elected as the next President of the United States, on November 8, 2016, the price of gold tumbled 8 % in the remainder of the month – from $1,282 USD/oz to $1,178 USD/oz. Usually these cascades in the gold price go hand in hand with physical sell-offs in the West and strong demand Asia. It appears November has been no exception. The volume of physical gold withdrawn from vaults of the Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE) in November accounted for 215 tonnes, the highest amount in ten months. Year to date SGE withdrawals have reached 1,774 tonnes.

There have been rumours in the gold space about the People’s Bank Of China (the PBOC) curbing gold import into the Chinese domestic market in response to capital flight. Although my sources have confirmed these rumours, Chinese gold import in November was still very strong at an estimated 140 tonnes. I don’t expect the PBOC will halt gold import all together.

The first mention of the rumour was by Reuters on November 25. By then the premium on physical gold trading at the SGE, which more or less reflects the strength of local demand versus international supply, had reached 2 % (from ~ 0.2 % on November 1). Reuters wrote:
“While we don’t have the exact numbers, we hear that they (Chinese government) have limited the number of importers,” said Dick Poon, general manager at Heraeus Precious Metals in Hong Kong.

In a previous blog post I stated the quote from Poon was not likely to be accurate, because there are 15 banks that have PBOC approval to import gold, but for every shipment a new License must be requested at the central bank. This protocol is referred to as “one batch one License”. Bullion cannot cross the Chinese border without a License. From the PBOC:

There shall be one Import … License of the People’s Bank of China for Gold … for each batch … and the License shall be used within 40 work days since the issuing date.

If the PBOC desires to curb gold import it can simply hand out less Licenses to approved banks, instead of deleting banks from the approved list. The former has happened as far as I can see. The next mention was by the Financial Times on November 30 [brackets added]:

Hope you are using a demo account, have you read the page 1 of this tread. If you click on help in MT4 platform it will give you all the instructions

yes brother i'm using demo only and i also read first page. but have some trouble to decide SL, TP and find reversals. i'm having 3000$ in my real account. please give me instruction. i think proper trading strategy and money management is important in this business. i'm not new in forex market. i learned a lot. but i can't get anything properly. help me...

Sounds like this is going to be way too advanced for you.. 2 -3 years is what Davit mentioned.

Looks like a good entry. Lower high, off the R61. reject. i would target R38. It is my belief that if you don't do multiple entries like Davit, you have to time your entry better using the TDI.

TP off of Price action, a set amount of pips, R38, turn of the TDI. SL, Davit does multiple entries so your mileage may vary here.

Since both are these pairs have higher interest currencies there are always being bought as carry over trades hence chance of appreciation is rabid.
Be smart when these drop key zones buy and hold and cash out.

got 6 buy limits on EA for spikes
we could see this jump 500pips north lots of compressed energy on E crosses

focus is on swings which could be as small as 50pips or large as 300pips. Usually I target next pivot TP and wait to see how PA behaves.Example of my recent swing trade on EA I got out at 1.4205 becouse price was not going further up.Decision was correct since then price is at 4170 now but did drop to 4150.
Every pair and Every instance is unique.No proper system has rules like after XX take TP because PA varies all the time.Sometimes you take 20pips sometimes 150!
SL is up to you.I treat SL before I even place trades.Mine are $$ based not pips.
cheers and trade something else.This is not as easy as it appears.I had guys here thanking me like I was God's sent gift sending me PM"s etc how much money they made using my system then 1 month later don't hear from them at all.
So I don't expect you or 99% posters to be doing this in 3 months even though I insisted people to give this 3 months try.

I guess we all are lucky here having Davit as our Mentor.
I couldn't done this without his help.
Look at this morning ( Tokyo), when I went long EURAUD. Decided to bail out when Davit throw his remarks on Euro.
I reverse my trade and made lot of pips from that simple mentoring from Davit.

lots of posts like these and these guys are gone from here.Not complaining just sharing observations.You are going to chase system after system until you pull your hairs out but one day you will find what works for you.Its usually not about the systems but your inability to take a loss and have solid risk controls in place.Until you figure that you will be going in circles.

I totally agreed with you.....SUCCESS IS UP TO INDIVIDUAL. We can't expect to win everytime. PA momentum is so erratic and it's hard to judge on how many pips to win each time. My minimum could be 20-30 pips and maximum could be 100pips. I'm concentrating my trade on EA at the moment. Best wishes to all traders......Good Luck.

Reza Mokhtarian, Timothy Sykes, Michael J. Huddleston many more mentors out there. Been thru all yap paid real money to subscribe. That was a learning curve However, I didn't learn anything about trading, but one thing I learn from them how to be a good sales man. No offence to them, they are good people there method simply was not working for me.

I made 400% monthly of course over leverage and I had felt that I'm the best trader in the world. I was gold digger, out come one night I lost my entire account just a matter of few minutes. I didn't give up and you know the answer. Again and again, I blow up my account.

One humble morning I found a book called Trading Plan Template, by Tim Wilcox I finished the entire book within few 2 hrs. Then I realized how the PRO think of the market. And later I hit up with Mark Douglas which is great and mindful.

However, I stop looking for system and I actually started trading. I don't believe anyone. I don't trust anyone. I use my fucking mind. I understand the money management. I have plans. Now I'm happy with my monthly 10% return. The game has changed!

Good afternoon Davit

I completely understand your thoughts on traders. I offered 6 traders to come to my thread and invest one hour a day and use a FXCM UK demo account of $50,000 US Dollars and to date one person has done it. I have little doubt that anyone with certain skills in Forex would earn 5% a month ROI trading FX and I offered the course for no charge and yet the key factor in this business is DISCIPLINE. My morning thoughts post this morning was just on this subject.

It is a great pleasure for me to have met you recently and I have great respect for true professional traders that have paid their dues in this business.

The Press Conference by Janet Yellen probably will make the markets even more complicated so be carefull because today you could see moves of 50 PIPS to 300 PIPS !!! This should be fun.
