Exactly! I lost almost €750 on NFP and recuperated about €500 during ISM. Down €250 for the day, but I guess it could have been worse...

Nice feature on VT Trader {probably available on other platforms but not sure about this} is Export Environment. This saves All my Indicators, TS, Chart Templates, Workspaces and a few more things to the location of my choice. A Jump Drive

Also on that same Jump Drive I have the Install Files for my Critical Software and keep it updated whenever I make significant changes to my environment.

The physical Jump Drive usually resides on my vehicle key ring which means I always have it with me if the need/opportunity for it arises when I'm out of the office.

I would recommend that any serious traders have a backup or two.

On top of that, your main trading station should have an APC for battery backup AND you should have redundant Internet connections with failover capability.

It's your business. Treat it as such.

Also, a nice inexpensive way of preserving your trading station if you're low on cash is to get a copy of VMware and install it. Create a VM and use it during trading. If it dies or whatever, you have a snapshot and can just within two or three clicks boot it back up where it was when you installed XP...

made +24 straddling GBP..........my short entry triggered at 1.9021, almost 1 min before release........made me nervous.......feared the whipsaw, and manually closed......but in the black luckily!!!!!

Just get a dedicated trading workstation (no office, games, etc)with raid1 or 5, if you have few extra $. Boxes are cheap these days.
Hopefully, you have a better next week.

Good job.

Did the same, but put a trailing stop too close to my entry price. Ended up -10. It was my first real trade.

I have backup power.
I have backup broker.
But I did not have backup trading computer...

Now that I have fully recovered my FXCM losses, I was hoping NFP could buy me a new LAPTOP for trading.. =)

After 6 weeks of news trading. One thing I come to understand is "not rush things"...

A win here, a loss there, no worry. Forex is not a sprint but a marathon.

Sure some makes x2 every 3 trades. Envious! but im ok earning a few so long as I dont get a heart attack everytime I trade =)

Bottom Line: Im doing it win fun and less stress (though today was freakin very stressful)...

I think all the forex brokers that I have been trying out the past few days killed my PC.... x(

Interesting that one would choose to sleep during the single biggest fundamental of the month. Actually you were probably one of the few traders to make it through the NFP without a loss.

NFP turned out pretty well for me.

++25.

I did a straddle with two lots. And it worked out pretty good.
August was a very good month for me, Sept seems to be starting out good also.

it's interesting that the NFP moves the market so much even when the expected number varies so little with the actual outcome. i think the forecast was 120K-130K (depending on the source) and the actual number was 128. I believe the previous number was revised to make this number even less of positive USD result.

Hourly earnings came in less than expected too. 4x speculators "trading the news" certainly had an impact today. After 20 minutes or so, I placed a limit order well below the initial spike to buy eurusd. I think it was at 1.2765 (Or near that), this trade was successful for 60pips on the retracement... that was a fun trade. The ride down was fun too. A lot of people must straddle that NFP or something because the numbers were not there for that kind of a bearish move. (You don't really need the report for the crazy initial wave though, see red-click sell..... see green-click buy

I foresee whipsawing in the future if this gets too expensive for brokers.

Hi everyone,

The market seemed to move early to me

Did anyone else notice that or was it a good guess by the banks ?

I thought it was a fake out, then it kept going, no damage but no profit (but only demo)
