That was a quick one. Stopped out for -10 pips. So this is another expectation failure, so now I will be looking for longs on AU.

Good morning Stavrogijn, I define my Bid/Offer criteria by looking for Bid/Offer Imbalances at certain area's of interest on my charts.
When there is a strong Imbalance this tells me that a large number of contracts are entering one side of the market at a certain price point.

In the example I posted, to the upper left you'll see Bids in blue and Offers in green. There's about a 1 vs. 3 trade imbalance. The Offers have been lifted, the buyers are taking control, or have they? Did they all just get trapped? Hum... If they have then feeding on their pain will be your edge! This you can not see in a candle.

I then wait for price to drop below this frenzy of buying, then retrace back to this level with strong "Short" trade Imbalances, circled in "Red". What fuels this move are the stops being taken out that belong to the "Long Traders". PA then starts to descend. It's about fear and greed. If you can find the pain in the charts, you have found your edge!

YM this morning

On the 233t this is shaping up to be a textbook cup n handle. I don't usually pay attention to these unless they are blatantly obvious.

So first thought this morning is to avoid shorts.

However, whenever we get very extended or have strong outsized moves I like to consult higher timeframes to locate a larger pattern. Doing so gives us this pattern:

We are approaching the 200 extension which is a popular extension for reversals as it is now 2x range extension.

If we pull back in RTH then I might look to get long for a break of today and yesterday ONH and will be mindful of the 200ext in case we see a swift rejection. I don't think I'll be looking to short today unless I see an opportunity for a quick strike lower.

Caught +16 on this, could have been more. With now a possible double top formation. Reasoning was demand held and price was showing a reversal trend line pattern.

Price is stalling near 138.2 on Daily, lets see if it will continue to 161.8

Update double top invalid, going higher.

Thank you for the kind words Mack. Since participating in this thread I feel as though my rate of learning has increased tenfold. I know I've said it before but man I wish that I spent the first 3years of my trading journey focusing strictly on price. I was going through some old workspaces the other week and a lot of the early setups that I had were loaded with indis - pivots, bollis, sto, macd, adx, rsi, fast ma's, slow ma's. You could barely see the candles lol. But so much of the info on the web recommends this sort of setup so it facilitates the trading struggle. Finding this thread is like taking the red pill in The Matrix lol.

I hear you on the gut thing. My issue I think was that I had my initial zone lined up and when I noticed price reversing short of it, I decided to enter and play off that zone. However I felt like I was chasing and I suppose I can't be too angry because I didn't lose anything. In hindsight I see that I had room to set it to a b/e2 but at the time I was getting the feeling that it wasn't looking so hot. So what can you do? Haha.
