Hi Bud. most eas and indies are based on averages which are rubbish. (excluding DAILY PIVOT)
BUT ADR (average daily range) does have merit and is based on averages over past week/s.
If you make a range within the adr you will have the Modest Range.
My Cable range is still 100 (sometimes 90) and AU is now 50 not 60.

A/U High Break failed leaving me with 2 counter trades, Low break was good and modest range made.

Sure.
The average is the sum of the values divided by the number of values.
So if you have 10 numbers in a list, you add them up and divide by 10 to calculate the average.
The mode is the number in the list that occurs the most.
So if you have 10 numbers in a list, whichever number occurs the most number of times is the mode.

In trading, the average range (ADR) is used to determine if price is exhausted in one direction or the other.
Used for reversal trading like HOLO.
It can also be used to determine targets or TP levels.
However, knowing the MODE gives a better edge especially if the MODE is less than the average.

One example for using mode is size of the wicks.
Knowing the mode is 20 when the average is 30, gives you the edge when to enter and when to exit.
Price being near the daily high/low, you know you can count on price moving to 20 more times than price moving to 30.

TS, AWESOME EXPLANATION, thankyou... i worked that out myself that is how i ended up with taking +5 with + 10 for stats AND modest range.
Numbers are the game and like my Lady (mathematician lecturer) saysit can be written down mathematically, and she too spoke of recurring numbers, easy ..

agreed, i do it myself though hence only trade a few pairs , catch you later trade well bud.

To me at that time cable had failed to break the 00 so south. Got it right could have gone the other way of course.

Then just aim for a pivot or whatever - I always have a £ target.

Evening all. I was dodgy about having much to do with with anything EUR-based today. In fact, on top of that, normally I would be well on my way to breaking completely for the holidays by this far into December. As such, I was having a bit of a 'play' day.

Didn't get into any Frankfurt stuff as still in my kip (late nights catching up, lol) but the first chart that popped up when I did get around to logging on was running a stripped-down HOLO indicator and what do you know - looking like it might pop. I didn't run a true HOLO as per TooSlow rules but instead ''dipped'' it, going in purely on price movement over the trigger-line. Boy, am I glad I did...In first thing - ran all day. Sweet. Having that ticking over in the background all day certainly freed up the mind.

Having that trade (and a couple of 1-2-3's from last night on top) meant that I was able to take the time to watch The Dead Zone set-ups today, rather than trade them, as I wanted to check out a couple of things about the method that I may be tweaking, without having to worry about having money on the line.
