Hello,

I am kinda new in the forex world. I have been doing fine so far, and each day I learn more than before about the market. I have a question, and I hope to hear some opinions from you guys.

It's been a couple of days since I started using the ADX indicator to find trends. The problem I have is that whenever I find signals for a trend sung ADX, both MACD and RSI give me the complete opposite signal. Like the signal from ADX is to go long while both MACD and RSI are suggesting going short or at least not to go long. Like RSI would be near 75.

While it does make some sense because when we are in uptrend the RSI, for now, is going to be going up and eventually would get about 80+, I am wondering if oscillators should not be used in a trend because RSI, for example, will likely exceed 80 and still the price would go up and the opposite will happen when we go near or below 20 in a down trend. So what I am thinking is that oscillators should be used only in range situations. Anyboday agree?

I am not sure if I explained my point very well, but I'd love to hear some oppinions.

In my opinion momentum indicators are best used in sideways/ranging markets. In strong trends they may eventually kill you


Look at the math behind them, try to understand it, and you will see their limitations.

Good use for momentum indicators is, when interesting in Elliott Waves, to identify the different waves (or to better understand market behaviour)

You can find more than a thousand strategies ...
If you want to use indicators in your strategy you have to realize the potentialities of each indicator ....

But it is very normal signs different from each ...

In case like this (let's choose daily) which happens most of the time, what is your strategy? What would you do?

I am thinking since you have 7 indicators for this example, it would be best to use 3/4 of them that you choose based on whether the market is trending or ranging.

This was an example of many indicators ...(What I never advise)

I just use one moment and one overlap...
Most of the time I do not even look at.
But when I see a divergence in a period of more than an hour in the RSI I do not ignore this.

In my strategy I only use trend lines, levels, fibb and Elliot waves as the main mentor.


Anything like this to me is enough

if the movement down was only the last part of a B-leg (the fat B), then we may see 1758 to 2536 again, or a much broader long lasting triangle play over the next 2-4 years
