Cool, to my ear that's no traditional "rock band" - there's some elements that are close to stuff I listen to. Avg. western record has what I call a "straight" rhythm. Jazz(some), soul, funk, hiphop, many dance records (prior to about 1992) have other kind of pretty much as a rule. I can tell the difference immediately because the straight rhythm doesn't cause any "head nodding/boppin" urges. The bass beat in both can be 4/4 - it's the way the other instruments work around (in tight sync) the beat that defines if there's a groove/pocket. The dance records I like are always in the "pocket" as they use drum machines and programming.
