GBP is weak because of the Conservative Party Conference with May talking tough. Despite the tantrums of the left, Brexit stands, we have a timeline and there will be no messing around. Theresa's got more balls than all those limp wristed drips together. Funny that the IMF has revised their forecast for the UK, with growth predicted to exceed all the other G7 economies this year, when prior to Brexit it predicted catastrophe.

Nissan are not happy and have cancelled some scheduled investment plans, they have publicly stated that they consider Brexit a bad thing for their operations. Interestingly on the radio this morning there were some people in Sunderland being interviewed over the possible effects or closure of the Nissan plant. There was a surprising collective opinion of "fuck 'em" with one person saying "this is the most productive plant anywhere in the world, I'd like to see them move it to France...."

Previously Honda have said that they are staying (pre Brexit) regardless, there have been no hints of mind-changing AFAIK. Also Toyota have been very quiet; I read that they are not pleased about Brexit but there is not a lot much being said publicly.

There are 100,000 jobs directly dependant upon the car industry in the UK, according to some sensationalist piece in the press I read some months ago.

Thanks for the clarification and a lot of what you are saying makes sense, still, "lose lips sinks ships" is something I take exception to whenever talking about the markets and irresponsible statements being made by the CB's. Carney for example, as referred to as "Carnage" who has earned that dubious distinction at times for offering remarks that has reflected poorly on the sterling's past performance, and as far as BREXIT, and the speculations to boot, should be no exception, as the markets seem skittish at the moment to define any kind of direction relating to the pound!

Who cares about Nissan anyway, their cars are shite! According to Jeremy Clarkson, "Telling people at a dinner party you drive a Nissan Almera is like telling them you've got the Ebola virus and you're about to sneeze."

Apple are going to create 3000 jobs, so it's all swings and roundabouts. You can't "preserve" jobs to stand in the way of progress, be it technological or economical. Such as idiot Corbyn wanting to get rid of Trident, but carry on building the submarines because he doesn't want any job losses...

I would almost tend to agree with your premise there Jen! However, we still have two more debates to go, and Trump is close enough within the margin of error to pull this off. He just needs to stay on message, and not fall for the nonsense that Hillary is trying to bait him with. She can't run on her record, so she basically has to revert to cheap shot tactics because that is all she has. It's called pivoting! The new political buzzword!

Just reading the comments in the related news thread, seems a circuit breaker tripped on GJ

edit: maybe only Oanda protecting themselves, my broker has history of the movement ... which is not the same as saying they accepting orders (when I was asleep).
