ok, I admit that if i have been looking for setups for a while and can't find any, bordem will set in and I will start browsing non trading sites and check on mt4 every now and then as price develops.

I thought everyone did that?

I just check every 30 minutes if I am on m30 every hour if on h1 and always check the h4 candle finish, other than that I browse other sites

I don't think everyone did that (except those who quit) and of course not me in the early stage of when I was learning...
unless you change your habit by dedicating your trading hours to trading only (concentrate 2hrs block then have a break....)...or you will end where you started with a loss (could be your money and time or could be time if you only trade demo).
I don't ask you to stare at each candle forming, but be prepared for the opportunity...
Let's say, you start your day by :
- looking at news schedule for the day, then
- open your M30/H1 chart, where you might have a few pairs up
- if you see price of a pair stalled at an S/R but no set up forming yet, switch chart to higher TF to see if any S/R nearby for potential PT/SL or any conflict,
- scroll chart up/down, zoom in/out, look left to see what happened recently,...
- check its relatives to see how they are doing (for example: if you spotted EA @s/r, you would check EU and AU...)
- if your potential trade faces 200ma or DOL or WK S/R, look left to see how price did recently...always act: "if price does this, I will do that..." It's called 'prepare yourself for the market/ opportunity)
- Keep the chart that you spotted the potential in front of you, study how PA was doing in the past (of course not all history will repeat exactly but you have some ideas to base on)
- when you know your chart/ your pair/ your basics well, and when the set up finally formed, you don't think, just get in. Don't wait for the door open too wide, that when time to prepare for exit...

Just to share...I used to have a few whom I mentored for trading, I finally gave up because they did not respect my time and their time by doing other things while trading.

If you worked for a boss, would your boss allow you to do something else not relating to work? why do you allow yourself doing it to your own business? Think about that!

We are human being we always search much better thing what we have that's the reason we move thread to thread and distract from our goal. Research and Development is good thing but stick with one system where we want to master it first. I was in same situation I search system to system and dump it in my D drive till now it's reached 32 GB but finally got frustrated with all indicator on my chart which clutter my chart. Price tell the real story just follow it and check the TDI for more confirmation. If we clearly notice all super trader like Big E,LK, T.Scorp, Emm,list goes on.. they always emphasis on PA+TDI so better we try to learn PA first and apply the same in our trading.

well you are right i guess, your boss wants to see you working and not take unofficial breaks. [well, most bosses]

I find though I tend to get stressed when staring at the screen for too long and can't find any trades, this makes me jump into setups which are not ideal. Like I might see a setup that is not ideal [200 ema blocking path and has not been touched that day], but because I have been looking all day and found nothing I may jump into it anyway.

These sorts of things happen when I am stressed from looking for setups all day and can't find none. It effects my trading discipline. Do you have any tips to overcome this?

next trading day, I will do as you suggested and shut down my tabs in my browser and just concentrate on trading ...but I really need some tips on controlling stress and trading disciplin if anyone has any.

ok, I am going to go to my brothers house soon. My trading is over for today [it's friday and im not getting in any trades this late]

your charts are interesting,

I am wondering perhaps if i should remove TDI from my screen and only put it back if I see a price action setup I want to take ..to try and train for price action better.

I am told I am paying too much attention to indicators/TDI and not price.

I understand a stress when spending too long at the screen, but I don't believe about you spending all day and found nothing. ah I m not sorry to say that (in case you feel hurt when I don't believe what you said). I guess you must have been staring at the wrong thing . I have no tips for those who can't seem to face their problems they are having, but trying to come up with excuses.

I told one of my traders, when you stare at one thing long enough (just one thing), you will find lots of things in that one thing.... That's my gold tip to you if you are open to take and apply

i trade only 2 pairs... GJ and GU...and like LK said...i find "lots of things" even i just trade 2 pairs...

1st green bag of the week from GCAD hidden divergence off S/R. Intial pt was at DOL for 30pips but changed to 55pips just above BRN and major S/R. Now waiting for a return trip :-)
