For those that trade the news, what tools/indicators, news feeds, etc do you use to get up to date news and data releases. I imagine refreshing the forex calendar isn't the fastest way to get news.

At forexpeacearmy they have a free piece of software called the Forex News Gun. It runs on your desktop and you can program it to place a trade immediately after certain news items are released dependent on the results of the release. They send an email out before every applicable news release to give you their suggestions on what settings you should use.
I used to use it a while ago. I think about 9 out of 10 of the first trades I did were winners but you still get massive slippage and not that many news releases actually trigger a trade. Also it doesn't work for all brokers. If you can find a broker that it works with and that has minimal!!! slippage on news releases (good luck with that!) it would definitely be worth using. You do however need to be careful setting the software up for each potential trade! If you got the setup the wrong way around which is easier to do than it sounds you would have a big loss because your SL would get slipped in all probability.
I still have it and use it but just to display the news results immediately after release unlike Forex Factory calendar which takes 10 seconds or more a lot of the time.
