my last 3 days mHunt results. (I was busy so works only about 6h/day).
I Work At Any Time (Not At Safe Time).
I Decide If It Safe Time Or Not By Seeing The Price Movements.

I'm deliberatly running mhunt on demo accounts during the day to find safe settings. It's true that the GMT night is usually calmer than the day, but anything can happen anytime. There are no rules, only estimates, there is no safe timeframe. I'm not home during most of the day, so I cannot monitor the trades.

I tried to run it 24/5 with 1000/0,01 (split amongst three mhunts) since Monday, but it died Wednesday afternoon. I think mhunt should not run for longer than 10h. I'll run it next week from 8-18 GMT (7-17 real GMT, because mhunt's setting is off by -1h).

Should that die again, I'm increasing the balance/lot ratio to 1250/0,01 (at 1:888 leverage) and see how that works out.

Update:
real account growth (mhunt 20-6 [19-5]) this week: 11,23% total growth in two weeks 52,48%

Yeah, but even with 1000/0,01 mhunt won't survive a movement like this (see first screenshot). I have an mhunt open since 8 GMT today, it almost died and, while still alive, cannot open any more positions (not enough free margin). So depending on the market direction, it might (and probably will) still die.

If it were this easy to see, we wouldn't need these kind of algorithms for trading. Also, martingale EAs like this need some space to work. Manually closing trades can be equally bad or worse than waiting it out. Things like this can happen any time and without warning (see second screenshot). Only a larger balance/lot ratio can mitigate this, at the expense of smaller profits.

Edit:
It's true though, that these movements are often subsequent to a large spike. Setting a target balance (take profit) would have helped in both of my cases, and may be better than raising the balance/lot ratio above 1000/0,01. I'm thinking 5% should be safe.

The simple solution to the prior problem with m is to not trade at big news times.

8-19 GMT is most likely the most dangerous time for martingale based EAs. But that doesn't mean movements like this can't happen at other times.

Well, i have indicated to Remon a couple of times to include calendar event filter into EA. Each currency will have their own mid/high impact news which is deadly for martingale. Calendar event in EA should be configurable to have EA avoid open trades maybe XX hours before the news. If any open trades are still open with its currency related to the news, within XX hours, it should go into survive mode.

There are several codebase on calendar event already out there, and should be something valuable for this kind of EA when a jolt of news could have wipe your account.

Also, Remon was talking about having user defined martingale lot sizes eg 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.05, 0.011,..etc which enable us to define the risk that one could take up before the EA open the next order with much higher lot. I hope that would be in the next release.

I Disable Open Button If I See This Tall Candle,
And I Wait Till See Some Short Candles.

I Always Disable Open Button After Starting The Trade,
And After Profits Done , And Before Enable Open Again , I Take A look To The Candles To See If It Is Safe To Start Another Cycle Or Not.

  2. setting to activate survive not only based on equity, but also lot size. If a certain lot size has been reached, it should be able to activate survive, regardless of equity. edit: Instead of lot size, it would be better to base this upon the number of steps the martingale already went through. This way it would scale with automatically increasing lot sizes.
  3. setting to increase the base lot size for X amount of balance increase
  4. setting for restart after survive (with cooldown, "wait after survive to restart")
  5. customizable "survive" setting. Option to set different lot size steps and level distances after hitting survive.
  6. custom trade times for each weekday

I think these additions would really improve the EAs.
