Windows 10 and MT4 compatibility

Hi,

Has anyone tried using custom indicator with Microsoft Lumia 950 XL. Needing a new phone soon and looking to merge MT4 with new phone. Thanks

You need to do a portable install John.

Check this, it should work for you.

Thanks for the reply, I found the answer by trial & error

See the picture, once the Accept License is ticked, the Settings button becomes active

Now the folder structure becomes user definable

I send this to Axitrader and they thanked me, this was after they were unable to give me a procedure!

I have install windows 10 a few months ago and my mt4 at 32bit system runs good with no problems!
But when i tried to test some new Ea or custom indicators i faced the problem, while i upload the indicators or Ea to broker's
data folder and restart my Mt4 nothing appears!

I tried several things but problem still exists, can anyone help me?

I am running the latest build 988

Sorry to say that Windows 10 does not like 3rd party programs.
I tried the program twice and had dramas each time.
You have 30 days in which to revert back to your old windows after that time you are stuck with Windows 10.
I asked several times and also put it on Face Book whether Microsoft would guarantee that 3rd party software could be used. They refused to answer the question. I have refused to change over . Go on face book when you see they are promoting the program and most of the comments are they are having the same problems.

You are probably putting them in the wrong folder, show us the procedure you are using, or go to Youtube school and learn the right way!

I have problem adding custom indicators and expers to mt4. Maybe it's because I use win10. I remember before there was a folder where you can place the indicators and then restard mt4. I installed mt4 a few times and for different brokers and I don't have the indicators folder anymore. I went through all files of mt4 and there wasn't any folder that showed indicators and EA.

Has anyone had that problem and how can I fix it?

Well that's the problem lol. I don't have MQL4 folder. The software doesn't install it for me.

On the MT4 platform, click on File
click Open Data Folder
double click MQL4
You should see the file path to the MQL4 folder in the address bar

These are all the files I have in my mt4 folder. I don't have MQL4 folder anywhere. When I installed mt4 few years ago that folder was in the main file location. I usually use fxcm marketscope.

You are still looking in the wrong place - Open your MT4 platform and follow the advise you were given previously or look on YouTube there are plenty of videos showing where to find the MQL4 folder and how to load indicators and EA's.

Wow lol, I see it now. They have changed the way you get to that folder. Thank you.
I've searched everywhere for an explanation for that, last week my windows 10 had an update, and the next day all my metatraders 4( version 988) have problems. I can't add custom indicators, or test any expert advisor.

I'm running Windows 10 Home 32 bits version 1607.
I've talked with my broker and they didn't give me a solution for that.

If someone can five a solution , I would apreciate that.

Everything works fine with w10 so far. Btw where did you install mt4? Do not use any of the suggested folders e.g. "C:\Programs Files" or "C:\Program Files (x86)". Instead use the root folder e.g. "C:\mt4" or "C:\your_broker_name\mt4" or another partition which is better even.

If still no success then try to start it with the 1st option shown in screen on prior #Post 75 "Run compatibility troubleshooter" and kindly give us a feedback.

I've just download the original metatrader 4 from the website, and installed in C:\\metatrader 4. Still not working ( I can't add to charts the ATR, CCI, MACD for example, or use the MACD sample.
I've tried the compatibility mode from post #75 and exactly the same.
I'm pretty sure it's the last windows update my problem, cause everyting I'ts working in others computers that I have, but I need that one.

Yes they give you 30 days to change back. Might I suggest you go on face book and find one of their promotions that they send out and complain in no certain terms and let the world know . You will get a reaction really fast especially if you keep doing it . They hate the bad publicity. I did and got it sorted in about 1 hour.
