{quote} Yes, but to milk them you've first got to have the ambition and then go out and conquer. That's exactly what we did. So why not bring out that ambitiousness again, go out and conquer again (not countries). The UK has a lot to offer the world and the world has a lot to offer the UK. The success/failure of a country depends not on what is has or hasn't but rather the sum of its human capital. That's why so many Asian countries are very successful without having even half a barrel of oil or 2lbs of copper (Japan, Korea, Sing etc).

Yes Calculus you are right. But you talking about past.I am not sure how much ambition we could find in these days.I see English people(men, women) these days more like drunk bears with pint of beer in the hand day in and day out.

Consequences - Many and wide ranging.

Millions of people across Europe have now witnessed that it can be done, a positive vote against being ruled by unelected people. Many will be seriously considering their future and cracks in the EU will start to appear. The pressure is on for the Governments concerned to fix those cracks.

What are the consequences or risks of staying under EU rule with trade deals like CETA and TTIP. I am very concerned about what I have read of TTIP, you need to go and look.
A current situation in the UK is causing a lot of upset; fracking. The Government says we need more sources of power and American fracking companies have come forward and "offered their services". Back in the States, fracking has turned out to be a bit of a lame duck compared to the initial forecasts. But that's forecasts for you, use them to bullshit and get what you want, and when it all goes sour just move on to the next area.
Local councils are under pressure to find money to pay for services and have been offered money by these fracking companies. Many of the local residents don't want the fracking to go ahead. Under the likes of TTIP if any sort of agreement is made the Government / council is at serious risk of financial disaster.

I believe trade agreements should be of mutual benefit and not one side having a loaded gun in their pocket.

What type of person would agree to such a deal ?

you mean boris the party animal, why don't we just bring in the real Trump as our first new trade deal with the USA.lol Well at least Boris does have what it takes he's proved that as mayor of London for a long time. We already have a German Queen why don't we go for Angela Merkel as our first new Euro trade deal? Sorry but I'm afraid what's his name the forgettable labour leader doesn't quite cut the mustard for me. Yeah ok Trump

Frac off Aspire have you seen what that has done to the Canadian landscape courtesy of American fracking companies, and where did they disappear to when the fires started back down their black holes.

You're right, many are (and that's just the women!) but a) the British have always been major piss artists, and b) there's a lot of very very talented people in this country, that's who we need right now. Will they come to the front and be the leaders we need, 50-50 in my opinion. Still, the Sun will continue to rise and the FX markets are going to be GREAT. We'll all survive, anyway the money has almost run out for all Western countries so we're all going down to some extent whatever the Brexit vote said unless MAJOR reform so perhaps the UK has a head start on everyone else...
Road To Wisdom? To err and err and err again, but less and less and less...

.. elitist beurocrats (sic) for their own political and financial agenda renamed the EU governed by five elitist so they could cream off the best for themselves at the cost of all the rest. Ask anybody in Europe who runs the EU and the majority haven't got a clue. .

God! I am seriously sick of the level of incomprehension of, unawareness of, unconsciousness of, unfamiliarity with the creation of EU regulations and the complete LIE that they are imposed unilaterally by an undemocratic bureaucracy. A theme and a downright LIE that has been propogated throughout this referendum
Everybody basing their judgement on this LIE need to seriously check their FACTS. The EU is just a bunch of civil servants translating the collective will of the members into law. Doing what they are told by the democratically elected parliament and the democratically elected governments of the member states.

HERES THE FACT:
ALL EU legislation/Regulation, has to be approved by the directly elected European Parliament together
with the Council (the democratically elected governments of the 28 EU countries).

"The EU/"Brussels "imposes" regulations??. The Fact is that most regulation is to ensure fairness across markets and prevent National governments and local Commercial interests using local standards to gain advantage/exclude goods/services from other member nations that would tip the table and distort the freedom of trade.
They also work to stop Big Business (as an example the Mobile Phone companies ripping off EU citizens with roaming charges) which are in breach of the spirit of a fee market. And stop Google from exploiting EU citizens right to privacy. You seriously thinking ANY individual state, including the UK can do that?
No. 500 million people speaking with one voice can do that, and the EU "bureaucracy" is the funnel for their voice.
When the Fishermen protest against their quotas .. its NOT the EU that are to blame if they are unfair.. ITS THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT who sacrificed fishing interests, and traded them off their other sectoral interests farming/finance/industry etc just as they would have had to do in any Trade deal. Does nobody understand how this REALLY works???

Anyway, when a market distortion is reported to them, they go through an intense consultative process with the industries involved, with the Council (governments democratically elected) and the Parliament (Directly Democratically Elected), BEFORE even DRAFTING regulations/legislation??? They must ALSO produce Impact studies to identify unintended consequence. (God I WISH UK governments were as diligent)
Which then AT ANY STAGE can be amended, redrafted thrown out or finally adopted ONLY by agreement with the Council AND the democratically elected EU Parlaiment.

For Heavens sake ..PLEASE STOP bandying about populist misrepresentations of the FACTS, without fully understanding the process.

Sometimes they get it wrong. But in general they have defended ordinary people against Big Business, thru labour , privacy and human rights legislation and defended all againt the imposition of US standards which national governments would have been powerless to resist.
I am NOT an apologist for the EU . but when I have problems with the operation of EU, (and I have many) they are based on FACTS.
Not on slogans, urban myths or lack of homework.

Anyone that actually wants to understand the process should start here: europa.eu/eu-law/decision-making/procedures/index_en.htm

Nobody is entitled to their own Facts.

Aspire my post stands. I do agree with your post especially the first paragraph as for the fracking you heard my honest opinion. It causes great sinkholes. America should be proud they have got so many about to happen because they allowed fracking. I am totally against anything that harms the environment. That includes fracking. I am entitled to my own opinion.

which also bears no resemblance to the common market we joined, which later was overtaken by elitist beurocrats for their own political and financial agenda renamed the EU governed by five elitist so they could cream off the best for themselves at the cost of all the rest. Ask anybody in Europe who runs the EU and the majority haven't got a clue. Far from it remaining a so called common market to produce common wealth it became a tool for the introduction of fiat currencies all across Europe to prop up the federal reserve banks. Thank God We British still hold on to the common wealth.
