hard to make money as scalper if you have to pay 20% of your profit to your FX broker via spread...I used to try scalping but it didn't work for me...Its better to hold your trades longer...

Yes they do. Scalpers make so small pips from one trade that you could feel they don't make much. But since they could open and close several trades in such less amount of time, if we accumulate and add up the pip gains from every trade, it could amount to something substantial or a profit reasonably significant.

scalpers don't need to make money in the long run...

When you have a system that is working it is important to use high leverage, you won't be able to do it forever year after year e.g EURUSD very difficult to scalp in late 2013 to mid 2014. 2015 till now very good conditions for scalping, you should be using 50:1 leverage minimum. I'm scalping but when the daily ATR drops, I won't be scalping at all, might have to wait years. Back to selling childrens apparel for me.

I tried scalping off the 5 min chart with 10 pip stop and it didnt work for me now ive changed to the daily charts and im starting to make a profit

Scalpers can make a shed load of pips day in day out. Whether their chosen market is rising or falling is irrelevant, they can trade long or short depending on what they see at the present moment on the chart. A longer term swing trader might wait all day / week for price to reach their preferred entry zone - meanwhile the scalper is trading the zig zagging move to that zone. After the swing trader enters, price might reach their TP some time later but maybe price will reach their SL first. Lets say it's a good trade and price makes it to the TP and they make 100 pips - due to the nature of price movement (never in a straight line) the scalper has the opportunity to make even more pips on the same move.
Also if the scalper hedges (another can of worms) instead of using a SL, and manages his hedged orders by closing them at a time of his choosing and therefor minimising losses then how can this not be profitable?
just look at the Carpe Diem thread. There are guys making money there every day by scalping. Forexcube springs to mind - he can make more money in 5 minutes than most can in a month.

Scalping is very risky in forex trading. I have studied some method about trading scalping and i traded it before but it is really very dangerous and require high leverage. If you have good experience with scalping then you can go for this.

I know many who are making money with scalping but i am wondering to know is scalping is still best method to earn money in Forex as a newbie?

Scalping is the fastest way to get chart time and learning. Many will say it's not good for making money but it is when you scalp is when you learn the quickest since you are glued on your screen and exposed to many chart time. Then, it's just a matter of switching to higher time frame if you want to earn bigger pips.

If you mean using the very same strategy (eg. trend-following) over the years, no I have never found a single scalping strategy that works in the long term.. and to be honest I don't think it's possible by adopting a discretionary approach either, at least from my experience. Yes, Of course if you're "luck" to enter at the right moment scalping is the fastest way to make money, but definitely not the safest.

The best way i've found to become an expert in momentum and price action reading was by watching in realtime AUDUSD, AUDJPY and USDJPY
These 3 pairs offer very good margin conditions,spreads and are volatile.
Real scalpers will understand what i'm talking about.

Are you sure? Scalping is a trading style specializing in taking profits on small price changes, generally soon after a trade has been entered and has become profitable."- Investopedia . Doesnt matter how many trades in a day. as long you taking small profits.

It is difficult to qualify whether a method is the "best method" or not.

But scalping is not easy, and in fact dangerous for newbies.
This is especially because in order to scalp profitably, you need to look at the bigger picture to look for trade locations.
There are many factors that will affect whether a trade is likely to work out or not.
So better get your basics right first.

Of course I'm sure, the trading frequency is what determines the trading style: scalpers try to catch as many trends as possible so they'll inevitably end up opening at least 5 positions a day.

That's absolute rubbish...no trader, not even the absolute best who have ever been can make this, and stop promoting that...you would be a multi-millionaire within the year. I have been around enough pro traders and studied long enough to know this is absolute BS..if you make 5-10% per week you are in the world's best group...
