Funded Traders - Pros n Cons

Thanks David I have tried it a few times but I wanted to ask people's experience as there are so many of them out there. Are they personal experiences you've had with them? I'm certainly not new to trading but I am new to prop firms so please bare with me as I'm trying to trial the best ones. They all look good from the face of the website and offer the same thing but rarely get any of the promises and therefore have to find another company. I'm merely trying to cancel out wasting time and money with the wrong firms.

Top50Fx has started a thread in the commercial section. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

There is another prop firm to be added to the list.
They are Russian, but their program looks good.
Charge to trial is very reasonable & the qualification rules are very similar to all the others.
They are for futures only.

I have passed & got funded with two so far. I'm going for the lot. Why not. No risk to me.

Sent them an email. Asked about platform fees. Got this reply.

ATAS is always free for you if you are working with us. As long as you are funded trader you don't have to pay any fees.

How good is that. The ATAS platform ( almost identical to Ninja & Sierra) goes for $1990.

Shonky. I tried them out about 6 mths ago. Terrible slippage / spreads. seemed to do their own SL hunting. More intent on selling dubious "Training" system.

I have personal experience with TST & MES. All good. From my correspondence with the others I am quite happy with them also.
You have 5 to choose from. Just a matter of which one suits you best. Then there is the pros n cons re: Futures or Forex & the monthly costs involved.

Didn't take long to figger this one out. The proverbial "Hampster Wheel" Fees are on & on & on going. Bloody expensive too.

Advice for wannabe funded traders. If there is a choice of levels to go for. Go for the one with the best DD allowance & easier target. And don't be tempted to go all in with the lots allowed.

Most of those funded prop trading firm requires that 1) You have a winning trading strategy that has a proven profitability record, 2) The daily losses not exceed certain threshold limit that they impose and 3) You put up certain amount of the capital of your own and they share certain % of the profit that you make

So basically all they are doing is just freeloading on a winning trading system without risking their own capital but if you do have a winning trading system, all you have to do is trade on your own and gradually build up your profit as you go and you would be able to keep all the profit to yourself. Why would you want to share your profit with someone else? If you do have a winning trading strategy, it would be much more profitable for you if you just run a hedge fund and make people invest their own money into your fund to ride on your profit. It would be the same thing as funded prop trading but you would get to keep all of your profit.

If you don't have a winning trading strategy then funded prop trading is NOT going to help you much because you are still going to have to put up your own money and if your strategy does not net you more wins than losses, then more money invested just means higher losses and since your money is also put into the pot, you are just going to lose your money more quickly especially if you are trading with a market maker broker. And at the same time, whenever you make profit, you have to fork over a % of it to the funded prop trading firm. So you shell out losses quicker but at the same time your profit is limited. Lot better if you just trade with your own money. You won't be making profit as fast but your losses will always be limited by your own capital.
