I have also found my problem in the indicator , apparently the iCustom function only accept No. 0-7 as the number of output buffer for return value ,and mine was 8 and so i have changed it and now it is 7 , then i have checked the return value of icustom function and it was ok.
i have also changed the set file ,unfortunately the problem is still there ,the program still Buy even the slope is < 0 and sell when it is >0.

​Are you sure you have the custom indicator conditions the correct way around. For condition2 you have a buy entry < 0 and for a sell entry > 0 which is contrary to what you describe you require, because you are in fact saying buy with a slope less than 0 and sell with a slope greater than 0.

Yesterday i was so preoccupied with finding the bug in indicator , that i missed this error .thanks again.

​You have the CCI conditions the wrong way around. CCI crosses above -100 should be the Buy condition and CCI crosses below 100 should be the Sell condition.

I ran a back test with the amendment I sent you and it did produce a short position which is enclosed. Also you have an inconsistency with your exit positions which is highlighted in the second diagram.

But logically when there is overbought sell position should be taken and vice versa , so i changed it again and look at the result now :
and the correct setting is here for those interested to use :

You should be using "crosses above -100" instead of "less than 100" for your Buy condition and "crosses below 100" instead of "greater than 100" for a Sell condition because your settings allow for no indication of price movement.

I draw your attention to the following excerpt from your quote. "Plunges below -100 reflect weak price action that can signal the start of a downtrend". Your solution sets yourself up for that scenario.

I don't agree with an overuse of greater than or less than. These conditions are usually reserved for confirmation rather than triggers for trades. You should be using crosses above or below. At the moment you have no trade triggers only a set of confirmations and as a result, a trade could be opened even if the price is moving away from the desired direction.

I'm sure you know by now of my own thoughts of overtrading with technicals.

But , if i use CROSS ABOVE , doesn't it mean and imply the whole time that the price is above -100 and still did not reached it ?? , and not the rebound back from the values below -100 ??!!
You know it totally depend that how you did implemented the concept of cross above and below logic in your code then.dose it check that it has already passed -100 and now coming above it ...? and in contrary "less than -100" , means the whole time that the condition is true , would be a good time to buy if the other conditions are satisfied ...?!

The logic is very simple -

"greater than" and "less than" only considers the position at the close of the previous bar. There is no "whole time" determination.

"crosses above " or "crosses below" considers the previous bar and the bar before that giving a two point view of position and movement.

Just select read/write Inputs Tab and then Read or Write Set file. This will take you the subscription page, following your subscription a new page will take you to a Download for 'Agility Trader Full'

Hi Saintalan,

A sample NLD file (and some others are) contained in the Agility trader zip file. That's probably you cleanest starting point.

Hi Mark, was hoping you might reply as I see you are the only one posting about it

Will try that one again, I am also getting a bit confused over the Decimal issue. Does it apply just to any Custom Indi and does it apply to any Nominted Value Input?

I'm rather pleased you have raised the decimal issue. One of the constraints in the overall design within MT4 was that the one size fits all concept was a choice between making all the inputs with a decimal value capability or dropping the decimal point for simplicity. I could go back and change all the inputs to text and then convert them to values but this is a huge job given over 360 inputs but considering that this is evolving into something much more versatile outside MT4, it is not worth the effort at this stage.

This meant that I have had to make an allowance in code where some inputs needed to be decimal point values, so what you have is a compromise where for example I have had to allow for decimal points in User Indicator values which may need decimal points, so everything there has to be multiplied by 10. It is very clearly documented in the PDF as to which inputs are affected. As everything will eventually move to the Agility Heatmap concept which is outside of MT4, this problem will then be removed.
