the same trades do not look as frightening on the Renco 5......i know nothing stays the same in trading for long but at the moment the Dax gap fill is very playable

Does anybody here experiencing the same thing as I? The Renko builders are killing my CPU, no matter which one I try? A couple of weeks ago, they were working just fine, now I can barely keep on offline Renko chart open.

No, no problem here.... I think some other indicator/EA is causing this high cpu usage.

Did you try to start from a blank mt4 profile and only open one m1 chart with your renko builder EA and another chart (the offline chart)

​Try reducing the number of bars in charts and history under Tools\Options\chart-tab. You may also need to delete your .hst files (File\OpenData Folder. Look for your server name, then the .hst files for the index/fx-pair)

Could also be your indicators.

I struggled for months - in the end paid up for a full-spec machine just for trading.

PS had a conversation with Dee previously. He suggested trying something called BlackViper (post 3890) but I'm not techie so went for the easier option of getting a new machine.

There are 4 factors to consider after the quality of the Renko builder you use and these are (IMHO, I don't know jack about coding)
a, your CPU clock speed.
b, the size of your RAM,
c, the speed of your internet connection and,
d, the latency of the server you are connected to.
You have limited control over the fourth factor but if you have done all you can to pimp your computer, just go ahead and trade what signals come your way.
Check your task manager to see how much impact the builders are having on your CPU.
I have 2 MT4 terminals both running Renko, but I hardly get over 50% CPU usage so I guess it's latency that's causing my charts repainting.
The shaded areas were all green before I refreshed my M1 chart but I should have just waited for the next entry instead of getting upset

Does the full spec eliminate repainting cos I don't want to pay for a professional Renko builder indie/EA only to still have the chart repainting problemm currently my machine is 3.2 ghz clock speed and 4 gb RAM I'm thinking of increasing the RAM to 8, what do you think?

​I don't know what you mean by repainting. So long as my chart stays open, it does not repaint. However, closing down MT4 then reopening can cause the charts to look different - which is why learning renko is best done forward testing. (I hope that makes sense).

It's probably overkill but at least I have no speed issues with Renko.

I don't use the OVO renko builder so can't speak about it. I use the pimped version (apologies - just checked my expert advisor. I am using the RenkoLiveShart_v600.6!). From earlier posts in this thread, this 'repainting' is a given whenever MT4 is closed down and not to do with your machine.

BTW on a slight tangent - does anyone know if is there a version of renko builder which shows price gaps? Does the OVO renko builder show price gaps? At the moment, the pimped version just paints a bunch of bricks and 'fills in' the price gaps

I use the Math trader 7 non-gap Renko builder, I will try the OVO builder they have a trial period, if there's absolutely no repainting then I'd stick with it.

OVO in my opinion is by far the best Renko builder. Yes, it does show gaps.

Yeah. I also have a base chart setup with other chart variations. Easy quick access. Plus you can change the Renko Brick size on the fly by typing in the number of pips you want (that's the indicator above the MACD)

Thanks for the help guys. I am currently trading with M1 charts as my main strategy (I am trading many pairs, doing so with Renko would require an awful lot of windows being opened) but I keep a platform open for Renko trading. Everything was fine until a few days ago, when all of a sudden, my PC slowed down when I had a single Renko window open. Anyway, I am currently using Alien's template applied to my Renko charts, but it is the light version and it should not slow down 8GB RAM.

I'll experiment with the bars in history or the no. of bars and let you know the results.
