In order to replicate the results, you will have to disconnect from the internet, backup and delete your history files for EURUSD, import the data enclosed, Use period converter to create other timeframes, Open Strategy Tester, Use Control point for the optimization, select the best result and then use tick by tick model on the best results.

​Todays discussion on turning the corner relates to support and resistance. I'd like you to Google "typical trading patterns" Enclosed below is an excerpt from the third reference - optionalalpha

"Why Are They So Important?
Simply put, chart patterns are just a series of price action that occurs in a stocks trading. These can happen on any time frame really; monthly, weekly, daily and intra-day. The great thing about chart patterns is that they repeat themselves over and over again. Human psychology and investor emotional cycles never fade. The markets change but human emotion does not!"

That about sums up everything to do with the emotional side of trading. Review Investopedia (first diagram) on Support and Resistance.

As Humans, from Big Banks, Hedge Funds down to the single forex trader, we are all subject to emotions. It's just that the software of the big players is so much more sophisticated than our software and they have the edge of knowledge of weight of money. We need to cover bases in our trading by recognizing these patterns and trade accordingly. Support and resistance relates to the observance of patterns however patterns can be broken and when they are, that is the weight of money which I discussed previously, so be prepared to recognize the breakout trade.

A word of caution - Do not place too much emphasis on charts less than 60 mins.

i tried your expert but i don't know why it doesn't open trade

i tried your default strategy .set file too but nothing.

have you another .set file that you are sure it works, to understand if it is just my problem?

Hi Elvis

You have already several presets in the original package with the EA, all works...try channel trader M1 for immediate testing...it will start in minute...

Hi Dave.
Could you kindly advice how to set the EA to simply take trades at break of candle highs or lows and to place stop to the opposite side of the same candle.
i.e. simple entry at break of previous candle.
This wouldnt be used as a fully automated system. Once i feel the market is ready i hope to place the EA on the timeframe i intend to trade and simply select sell or buy as per my bias. So if sell is activated on the EA it will for that timframe sell at break of last candles lows and place stop at that same candles highs.

Sorry if again i am not making sense again.

What I intend to do next week as a tutorial is to have anyone who is interested, open a separate MT4 platform just for testing. We will use the data so that we are all on the same page, and work through 5 examples and optimize together and I will explain what we are looking for and will forward test all on a VPS and will post the results to myfxbook.

Items to be covered -

  1. RSI Strategy
  2. CCI and Divergence Strategy
  3. Support and Resistance strategy
  4. Straddle Trading Strategy
  5. Custom Indicator Strategy (NonLagDot)

Off course l am interested...But l am backward with Strat. Tester. stuff...Dont want slow down the classroom...will try to push harder to learn through the WE...

Hi Dave,

On another note. i'm getting a couple of weird things happening with my Agility Trader testing (probably something I'm doing.

One example is the sell trade just executed (attached screen shot). The set file has a moving average cross over specified in the following set file. No cross over occurred. If you get chance can you comment back Thanks Mark

Dave, one more useful bit of info is that I am using the latest cut of Agility Trader which I think is off this thread.
