I don't write articles for magazines , hang here with Geppy and team pro trading , looking take a position Monday targeting 1280+ at the top of the broken triangle based on usdjpy analysis , employment data, U.S. Dollar index

I really doubt GJ will go north when UJ is declining; but you never know!!!!

I'm still just holding the GBP/JPY longs I have from the high 158 zone. So nothing much really.

Also... will NOT be able to do a weekly outlook this week. Mrs. Geppy and I have a wedding to head to in a bit in Napa. The wedding is tomorrow but I have groomsman duties all today and rehearsal. So I won't have time to site down and crank out the update :-(

This is my NFP result. I used the initial panic to close my loosing positions from this week with small profit. These I'll try will keep open into next mid-week, and take my time to figure out targets. Stops are already in place. Give or take, 1500 pips are now secured with positive stops.
And before anyone says its gamble and doesn't belong in swing trading, note that
1. There are ways to trade events like NFP,
2. I used analysis to trade it.
3. Direction of the trades somewhat aligns with biases I and others developed in this thread this week.
4. Powerful news like the NFP will inject momentum to the market and will follow us to next week, essentialy creating new swings.

So... this was not a great week, but all in all it ended with a bang for me

Just a view going into next week for GBPJPY - we are seeing some clear divergence between the price and RSI, it looks like the retracement is running out of steam. Could be a great sell back down to the 24th Feb lows, we will see what Monday brings.

Signing off here in London, Friday afternoon and the markets are winding down for the weekend. To the pub!

I haven't put on any new trades today or yesterday. I'm still holding a short in Ucad and UJ.
I agree with the trade next week idea.

All currencies are valued relative to each other. The pairings (E/U, G/J) are just an instrument to speculate the strength differentials between currencies. The major currency crosses are just those currency pairings that most people are speculating on. That's why spreads are normally lower on majors. When you take a sell on the GbpUsd you're really selling the GBP vs all currencies with a heavier weighting vs the USD and buying the USD vs all currencies with a heavier weighting vs the GBP.

When you take a sell in a specific pair (GU for example) it's like saying take the value that i have out of the GBP and put it in the Dollar. This also causes the GBP to lose value against all other currencies as well as the Dollar. The effect will be more pronounced in the Dollar. Looking at the charts after news releases, you can sort of see what people think about it. You can also figure out what people are thinking by just comparing days and seeing who moved the most and where they moved to during regular market activity. This doesn't mean one economy is better than another, its just what people are currently thinking about.

EDIT:
Also, we don't move the markets like that. Unless we're trading on the interbank markets, our trades will never move the markets by themselves. Also due to the way some brokers offset their risk, our collective trades may push the markets but that would take many different brokers all with the same net directional exposure to happen.

Thanks man, I'm actually out of my GBP/JPY longs now. I had a target set at 162.20 as per this previous post which was looking at the daily fib retracement at 162.42 but I always set my target a bit before support/resistance or fib levels come into play. So out and flat going into the weekend.

I still think there's more room to go higher and I may get back into longs next week.

I only traded 1 pair gbpjpy all week but had 10 addins averaged in, all sold for good profit. The stellar was gold, huge returns on the bullish metal, we are in a gold rush.

I was short UJ a couple days ago but it went no where fast so i got out. Im still looking to get short again, but it seems like its a mess right now and im seeing a possibility of a rise to 115-116 before it falls off the cliff

Pink lines illustrate the possible triangle consolidation/pink hash line showing possible bull flag within the triangle

Are you seeing something different? If so, can you please drop a chart so i can get a different view? Or anyone else for that matter.Thanks

This is my contribution to trades for the week. Any discussions or other trade setups ready to go welcome.
EURUSD: spike caused by us news bounced of the 38 fib retracement, just below the 100 day moving average. Since then a long bearish wick was formed and price has started the retracement. Short opportunity ideally in the blue area or before price retraces further down targeting 0 fib retracement.
