incredible day shame i was in simulated trading haha .. haven't added up all trades but think it was possible to have taken close to 200 ticks today - how unusual is a day like this Harold?

They happen when market moves like this the norm is more like 50 to 100 but you can see how I racked up those big days just putting them on

Market went up 80 at start of day them down 300 then back 200 makes for a prosperous day

It's true, but in fact I'm trading 90% off the 8 range chart - because the range bars show me my exact entry price very clearly in advance, I can trade off the chart more easily using Stop Limit entry orders (I know the line chart price is also exact, but there is the "pattern undoing" phenomenon that I just can't get comfortable with, although I see it doesn't affect your results at all !).

Still have the 333t line chart in the corner + the MACD on the 999t, so I know if I'm entering a trade counter to the higher TF swing. I've long used an H1 chart for general SR levels.

I do entertain the idea of using one chart (per instrument) only, Al Brooks style : the minimalism is appealing, but old habits die hard... (& I'm a bit of an old habit myself ).

All "Variations on a Theme", as we flag trade that trend...

I totally get you! I had exact the same for few months. Then I just went cold turkey and got rid of everything else. Not easy, but pretty profitable when adjusting oneself.

Also would love that Brooks one chart and have actually tried it few times but it's too hardcore for me.

my new starting time is 930 am est when the market opens. the reason is I hardly ever get any trades before then and the dom shows fewer players. so now only 8 hrs a week to work. The less is more principle again at work

Good plan. This week I've only been trading the ES after the NYSE open at 9:30 EST. My goal is 10 points/day before noon, no new trades after 11:00 AM, quit after 3 losses in a row (this hasn't happened, and given my "opening range" strategy," three consecutive losses would indicate a trading range morning - so odds would favor standing down and coming back the next day). I will continue to hone this plan this week and next, and I will then apply it to my project for capital growth starting Tuesday, February 16th (the day after President's day).
