Could someone edit the infamous fractal indicator.

What i would like is instead of 2 bars either side, it should require 4 bars either side, comprende?
And if possible cancel the alerts, this indicator is nice, the shapes are better than the original fractal.
See attached indicator to edit.
Or edit original fractal which is bog standard with mt4.

The built in Fractals indicator has other problems too, If one understands what fractals are then remember that you can not have two mountain tops with out a valley in between them. The builtin indicator will give you many times 2 or more tops with no valleys or two or more valleys with no tops in between them. That is an impossibility in fractal studies. Look at your chart there are examples there. If one whats to use fractals one must start by creating their own indicators as MT indicator is not worth using.

look at the post above with the hands you see that there must be a divid between each finger and one between each hand, and that there are different sizes that composition of fractals on multi levels. MT indicator lacks in that respect, as well.

I knew I would have to listen to the people who have been using it for years have to say so I came here. The previous posts seem to be focusing on Elliot Wave, based on the characteristics of the previous bars. This may just be a different interpretation of the same thing, though I felt it was worth posting.

To sum up my understanding of that Pi post, trends will travel a longer distance to get to their destination than a straight line 'as the crow flies'. It gives the example of a river, the river will travel further (distance) as it meanders than a straight line (walk).

Ranging markets occur 60% of the time,
Trend markets occur 40% of the time,

  1. 28-32% as weak trends, and use the equation: distance/walk = 1/2*π
  2. 8-12% as strong trends, and use the equation: distance/walk = 1/π

So the height of bars isn't as important as the 'distance travelled' as a predictor. From a fixed point as a reference, the distance travelled by a chaotic trend can be used to calculate the level to which the trend will reverse. The poster said it would be useful to use strong trends as indicators.

As side note:
I have a strong preference for EAs as I rely on them to work for me on a cloud server while I do other things. What do you think is a 'safe' EA for me to use, even if it has a reduced profit?

seeriktus, Interesting article you linked to reminds me of a Bill Williams' youtube lecture video on fractal geometry and how it relates in the same way as pi does to a river. But, of course rivers have dikes and dams just as markets have hedge funds and banks, directing flow and pooling.

Interesting idea, thanks. (Even though MT4 "fractals" have little to do with mathematical fractals, which is what you're talking about.)
I hacked together a quick oscillator that does this as well as the statistics on the occurrence of trend bars.

perhaps identifying trend or not isn't the best usefulness of identifying seeing the PI in the market. Since we're talking fractals, am wondering if we could think of each Pi identification(as shown in your picture) as a fractal of a larger and/or smaller PI going on somewhere else. That would be much more precise & perhaps in some whay useful. Or not. lol

the idea of a fractal is it is infinite in scale and repetitive in shape. for example >>>>
