Sometimes the H1 candle pulls away from the PRZ very aggressively and offers expensive entries with reduced R:R. It's a good idea to drop down into a lower time frame once price enters the PRZ to catch a better price and keep the R:R where it should be.

Keep in mind that price should always hate the PRZ and it should react sharply from it. So waiting on a H1 candle for confirmation is sometimes a problem.

Hello Mr Pip. I must say i'm learning alot from your Thread. I have watched almost all ur youtube videos and Recently i started watching the free vidoes from Akil and Jason of Trade Empowered and they their own method of trading advanced patterns is a little different from urs. They trade every single pattern that meets their rules and by rules i'm talking about just the fib levels that make up the pattern. I think each pattern still has to be qualified and its not enough to trade a pattern just because it completes. where it completes with regards to the bigger picture should be taken into consideration. Jason says that once you have backtested each pattern on each currency pair in your portfolio, you combine the result of the data into one equity curve calculate your expectancy based on the backtested data and then from there plug the result into your money management spread sheet and determine the position size to use in case all pairs suffer a loss/ drawdown at the same time.
i guess it works for them but i think qualifying the pattern is bound to increase my total win rate.
which brings me to question number 2. Is backtesting an absolute must for trading harmonics and advanced patterns and if it is how much data do you need to extract from the chart to satisfy this requirement? Thank You sir.
Also, can you please point me to pages on the thread where you discuss order flow trading and structure in details. ive read the summarised version or your initial posts but i believe there are still alot of gems hidded within this thread.

James and Akil, they have a set of rules, it is not random trading. what you see on youtube it is just an advertising of their company, if you want to learn you have to pay them. I think Mr.Pip will explain, about confluence, it is not that simple to find the completion of the pattern.

Please dont misunderstand me. I know they have a set of rules for trading advanced patterns. I follow Akil and some of his clients on trading view, twitter, youtube etc and they all say the same thing. trade every pattern You see that meets your rules. They dont care if the pattern formed in a bear trend or bullish trend or that kind of stuff. Of course when ever there are multiple factors of confluence such as structure, RSI Over sold or Over bought, Harmonics and all that, they indicate it on the charts they post but it does not necesarily mean that if those factors arent there they wont take the trade. As long as the pattern forms and completes within the rules of the fib ratios than define that particular pattern in their ROE, They are taking the trade. Not like that is a bad thing and i'm not criticizing them. I have learnt alot from them in just a few months of going through their free materials. Ive learnt alot from Mr Pip too. its just that We cant all trade the same way.Every one is bound to have some slight modifications based on the personality of that individual. i prefer to cherry pick my Advanced pattern trades and ask the question Mr Pip said we shoukd ask: Is this pattern in the right place? Does it make sense for it to have formed here? Hope you understand what i'm trying to say?

Hello Yemionline, I'm glad you are finding the videos useful. I am familiar with Jason and Akil, they want to sell you a course more of what they put out for free is bait for the course. I'm not saying they the information is not good I'm sure it works for them. They trade the probabilities that these patterns in the long run have a positive expectancy and while this is true there is also a fair amount of them that will fail. Any trading system must have a money management component that addresses they strategies strength and weakness to protect and grow the account.

I rather know based on the information on the chart which patterns have a higher probability of failing so that I pass on those weaker ones. As for your question on back testing. I honestly think it's important to do back testing to the point where you feel comfortable and become efficient in identifying which ever setup you chose to trade. This is how you train your eyes to recognize your chosen setup without much work. Back testing is also important so see how your rules perform during different market cycles and if they have a positive expectancy. How far back in history you go is completely dependent on you and your comfort level that the data you have reviewed meets your satisfaction.

The information you seek is throughout the thread so I'm sorry I can't point it out better but everything I do is explained well enough on the videos I have made. Search youtube dcastfx and damian castilla. I will be making a few more videos soon so feel free to let me know what you all would like me to address in future videos.

Even Akil with intraday trading, he starts a day from Daily time frame and the main trend. Trust me there is no information about how they trade in freebie. Hello Traders,

If you want your trading accuracy to improve I would suggest Having expectations for price to follow and to achieve and trading those expectations. We all know that expectations play out greater then 70% of the time and by that I mean structure expectation NSH = HL = NSH and NSL= LH = NSL. Wait for the correction and trade the expectation. As far as addressing profit targets becomes a matter of using market harmonics to project a realistic profit target.

Stay on the side of market strength by assessing order flow which will also help you foresee when to trend is breaking down. Keep it simple and use the patterns to add confluence if you spot an opportunity to go against the market. Remember that these advance patterns mostly occur in areas of congestion and are continuation patterns.

Its feels good to know that there are still traders out there who genuinly want to give back by helping others succeed in this business called trading.

Do you talk about money management in any of your videos?
I downloaded your Money management spread sheet and have also read the pdfs on smooth ratio and fixed ratio mm that you uploaded.I know you said you use smooth ratio money management and quite frankly, i think it does give the best of both worlds after i tested it with some sample data. But i was just wondering if you happend to throw more light on it in any of your videos or perhaps on this thread? I Still need some guidiance on it especially on how to tinker with the slowdown multiple and the delta for accounts far less than 10k. Theres hardly any information on the internet about smooth ratio mm. apparently the only place google keeps directing me to is this particular thread. That was how i stumbled on this thread in the first place and i'm glad i did.

Work on your strategy first. Become consistently profitable and then you can work on a money management formula that compliments your expectancy.

I'm new to pattern trading and am back-testing the Cypher pattern on EURUSD 60 min. I'm not sure I'm drawing them right so I'd like some feedback. Here are two I've drawn, one payed out and the second one didn't. Are they drawn correctly?
