70c for a 5 buck vert is as good as 15c for a $1 spread

Hi, anyone trade DAX options here? I would like to ask what is the margin requirement for EUREX for 1 standard dax contract = EUR 25 per index points. I mean if a naked call.

I don't know about that, China - maybe somebody else here can help, or you might find it on a futures broker's website....

Depends.....right now a Jan 9800 Call for instance has a Margin Requirement of 4366 at my Broker (Interactive Brokers). 1 Point = 5

A Feb 10500 Call for Instance has 3260...

I am going to use Interactive Brokers as well but IB with 5 multipliers isn't it? Which means each contract is at EURO 25 right? You mean you can have 1 point for EUR 5?

Thanks anyway mate. Schmidt help me with my question especially he is using IB as well. This is because I use IG previously and now have to use IB as I work in a new China prop company. I also blur when I read on IB there, it is written multiplier 5, so I thought a minimum of EUR 25 per contract.

DAX Future = €25/Point
DAX Mini Future = €5/Point
DAX Options = €5/Point

Thank you so much mate, really helpful from your information. I know that DAX do have mini future, but I thought Options same as Future EURO 25 as it is written there with multiplier 5. I should ask here earlier then I won't be headache anymore because money management need to be run on 300k account if with EUR 25 per point.

Margin Requirements are less on covered calls.

What is your Trading Platform? Do you use TWS?
If so, you can click on New Window - Strategy Builder

When you click on some contract the Window will show you the margin Impact at the bottom.

Oh I see. I also just downloaded TWS today. Still waiting for the account to be funded on IB now. Probably by tomorrow or latest will start on Wednesday on IB. Haven't done any research with TWS yet because couldn't login yet.

You'll have to get used to the TWS, definitely not the best Charting Software. But it has all I need and a lot of features. You can not use MT4 with IB. So if you need better charting software, you need something like Ninja Trader.

well, you're in the hunt - watch the Jan'17 and earlier chains - you may be able to make a spread - you could sell an earlier month $20 call for $0.10 or more to make a calendar - IF USO puts on some gains....doing so you'd at least nullify your debit or lock in small gains....if you could make a wide calendar at $20 the b/e would be (see below)....if you waited til expiry (Jul as shown) you might make a little money @ USO> $15 on your free trade, then you could look to sell calls again....

I see FF started making the weekly EIA crude storage number a "red" release....it used to be "orange"....

TWS is a bear.

Especially compared to TOS.....mine is up and running smoothly now after windows 10 released an update.

Have my roth/forex on IB, chart via mt4 on another broker, and equities/options on td ameritrade......during news things can get crazy quick, but I hardly trade options or equities, that will change this year. Hopefully my computer doesnt burst into flames

Sometimes. I daytrade Futures and Forex, but last weekend I was holding CL Puts for instance....felt better holding Puts than shorting Futures over the weekend. I'm barely trading Option Strategies.

Not too experienced with that.

Exactly... I used to trade DAX options on IB also, but I don't like their working time.
DAX options seems to be options on DAX cash index, and that is why they have different multiplier and working time.
Hope is dangerous in this game.
