AUDUSD So far my long is looking good :-) here are the Targets and Date I have..... Long @ 0.7153 / Dates 7/9-10 / levels 0.7305, 0.7351- 0.7358

Hi guys, new to this Gann Analysis and been study it for awhile.

I want to ask help if someone can explain to me about the 50% retracement which Gann explained in his book.

One of the greatest discoveries I ever made was how to figure the percentage of high and low prices on the average and individual stocks. The percentage of extreme high and low levels indicates future resistance levels.

There is a relation between every low price to some future high price. and a percentage of the low price indicates what levels to expect the next high price. At this price you can see out long stocks and sell short with a limited risk.

The extreme high price or any minor tops are related to future bottoms or low levels. The percentage of the high price tells where to expect low prices in the future and gives you resistance levels where you can buy with a limited risk.
The most important resistance level is 50% of any high or low price.

Second in importance is 100% on the lowest selling price. You can use 200% , 300%, 400% or more depending upon he price and time period from High or Low.

Third in importance is 25% of the lowest price or the highest price..

Fourth in importance is 12.5% of extreme low or extreme high price

Fifth in importance is 6.25% of the highest price or lowest price.

Sixth in importance is 33.33% and 66.66%, these percentages should be calculated and watched for resistance next after 25% and after 50%.

I still can't figure out how to determine where the 50% should be. I believe Gann angle should use with this 50% retracement so we can predict where the next resistance should be.

Been trying to understand it through this 2 website but seem its doesnt make sense to me. I mean, from where to where this 50% retracement come from.

Hello!
http://gann.su/ is the site you need, in the (free) download section there is a huge (~70 megabytes) pdf compiled by a number of actually written by Mr. Gann courses. One of these courses is extensively about the angles, finding the main range is also explained there.
The easyest way to later check it on your charts in Metatrader (and some others) platform is with Fractal indicator and Fibonacci correction with custom levels - 3, 2, 1.5, 1.25, 1, 0.75, 0.5, 0.25, 0, -0.25, -0.5, -1, -2.
About the angles - the Metatrader 4 Gann angle/fan tool is corrupted (doesn't draw the angles correctly), if you want to draw angles there you can do it with Fibonacci fan and custom levels - 0.875, 0.75, 0.5, 0, -1, -3, -7. In Metatrader 5 the Gann fan tool is fine.

Ah yes... being told the same thing about MT4 gann fan. I just use trendline with angle for that. Quite pain in the a** but thats all i can do for now.

However this percentage retracement points which i don't seem to understand at all. Really want to know from which point to which point this 50% retracement work out.

To begin with - price action is vibration, governed by forces of cumulative supply and demand. Angles and 50% levels are the vectors of these forces as single ones and as combined influence. For any vibration there are two major states - balance and disbalance. When balance is prevailing price action oscilates around the vector of combined influence, when disbalance is prevailing the vector of the leading power is acting from one side on the vibration.
There are multiple scales of these forces (and vibration) happening simultanously, for any given moment on the chart we see at least three - that which is most appropriate for the timeframe of the chart, the lesser and the bigger. One of them is the leading situation (it may or may not be the one we are looking at), the others are following. It is not bigger timeframes lead the lesser or lesser lead the bigger, it is about where the most potential and actual trading volume is focused at this particular day.


Technical analysis is the reverse engineering of this - if price oscillates around a level we have a rangebound market, if price reacts to a trendline and/or breaks out a level we have a trending market/breakout.
The more clearly price reacts to (or oscillates around) a vector - the more important and leading this vector/scale/situation is.
If bottoms are below the main vector of the leading situation and tops are above - we have a range, if bottoms (demand) are above the main vector of the leading scale - we have an up-trend (demand increasing), if tops (supply) are below the main vector of the leading situation - we have a down-trend (supply increasing). We can have more than one leading vector with tops above the supply vector and/or bottoms below, supply or demand decreasing usually looks like this - it is a quite ugly rangebound market.
A range may be horisontal or crawling, for a horisontal range the main vector should be the 50% level of the move that best defines that range. If price makes tops above and bottoms below it - rangebound continues, if it makes a nice bottom above - an up-trend is starting, if a nice top below - a downtrend is starting (from then on you should look the price+time angles starting from this nice top or bottom, not the 50% level of the range anymore, as they should be the leading vectors of the starting trend).
That is how you can use the 50% level. Please read this carefully more than once and try it on your charts, I gave a lot of time to write it.

You dont need specialized indis to do this. Go to your drawing menu tools and right click and select customize then youll see the option to add triangle, ellipse, etc.

You can remove the automatic calculations of the pentagon anchor points and add manual entries in the begining of the code instead. You can do this yourself - just read the code a few times carefully - you should be fine.
Or you can use the circle tool - on a less than 50 bars chart a pentagon is effectively a circle.
