These Are The Biggest Hedge Fund Casualties From The ECB's "Shocking" Disappointment

Man Group, which runs $76.8 billion in assets, said on its website that its $4.4 billion AHL Diversified fund lost 5.1% on Thursday. Among other funds to have been running bets, to a greater or lesser extent, against the euro were Brevan Howard Asset Management, which oversees about $25 billion in assets; Tudor Investment Corp.; Moore Capital Management; and Caxton Associates, said investors. "Pretty much everyone was short the euro. The view was very clear for everyone."

The Black Box is supposed to be opened at the presence of the international experts.

Maybe they got friendly tip from Goldman sachs to sell. 5% loss for hedge fund is funny for a day. Well hedged that is

So should Canadians thank their southern neighbours for pushing them and the price of oil trough the cliff? Couse that should be done. Meanwhile let economists theorize why oil is bottomed already. And when it gets lower, let them call for more bottoms.
For BOC quite tricky situation. With oil staying here for while/lower there will be additional pressure to CAD, plus add to add hiking of FED, and BOC aparently is thinking to cut rates further, which means tripple whammy for CAD. They are trapped, just like EMs are with current dollar standoff, they cant hike to counter it thats the problem. Maybe with exception of Russia, or perhaps they all will, but having significant consequences.

Wierd that Russia doesnt use something similar to C-130 planes of US, those "tomahawk" missiles are way too expensive since C-130 can do same job for 10 times less the price. I guess it might be due to fact that there is only 1 air base in Syria, and might be too risky for such plane to land. Or perhaps they dont even have such planes.

Cost of a Tomahawk is around 600.000 to 1.000.000

Cost of a C-130 is between 30.000.000 and 50.000.000


A C-130 is an easy target, because of relatively slow and relatively big

No no, its the ammo cost that matters. Cost of submarine that launched that missile is way above C-130ish plane in first place, but its ammo that counts, especially if you fight proxy war. C-130 is not easy target, especially in proxy war where the only enemy is the one that can stab you in back, and chances for that are very little in first place. And even with that C-130 can fly on very high altitutude (no ground force can hit it, besides SAM, which means in case of Syria 0), ofcourse now all this is being asumption that Russia has such a plane, i dont know.
All i am saying is "tomahawk" version of missiles cost as you said aprox 1 mil, while C-130 does same job with medium caliber artilery for at least 10 times less price if not more. Plus few meter accurancy as bonus.

I guess Russians could learn something about economy of war from this song:

It worked for thousands of years, it still works today unless you have upper hand, then no worries. Just to be clear i am not backing Russia-China pivot by any means, i know what petroyuan displacement is about, but to put it simply there is black side and the ones that fight against atm in Middle east, and until it stays that way Russia and China stay on upper moral ground. Its wierd though, couse that upper ground means millions are dieing to defend soverenty of those decisions. So should one cave into demands of imperialists to spare lifes, or fight and kill millions and have hope to prevail in whats best for state? Very difficult question, history usually backs rebelion. And most of time rebelion ends BAD. Also most of tiem those decisions are made by few, not many.
