Hedged yesterday Euro Dollar during its kinda volatile early stage, got in at an ok spot, and then exited long side when the movement started. Came out ontop with a better position than if I'd waited, and with much less stress. It works just fine.

Would you find the time to elaborate further on the trade you took? Some details, maybe a quick chart showing what you did?
The reason i ask, is because somehow i feel you made money due to reading the situation correctly and not because you hedged!

I use hedging to cut my losses on open trades, usually on a trending market to protect my assets from price correction and sometime profit from it as well.

When I have time I do as youve asked, and you are correct in that I figured out what was going to happen, but I knew that it had a chance to be volatile give the news about interest rates and the and such... so I took a hedge instead of a stop loss as to not get stopped out ... and then waited for the movement... lucky for me it was not too crazy... prob will get that crazy later on this month lol. but yea ill post a chart later and show more details.

The blinders are to block out all of the bullshit from the mouth-breathers.

I notice (you are so tricky tricky tricky) you didn't address your highly prized nedging technique of closing the trade. Either you've misrepresented yourself and should do better, or I misunderstood and you are avoiding clarifying, or you are a fool and now realize it so are trying to dodge it.

I'm sure we can all sit here and discuss the merits of who put who on ignore first and why. Or you fools could find it in yourselves to accept and acknowledge that nedging is a fools game that you have played-into with fervor. You are literally giving your money to your brokers, all for the privilege of confusing yourselves.

I don't "nedge" to reduce expose or as an alternative to a stoploss, but I do enter both long and shorts on the same pair, which I suppose is the same as "nedging". If I'm short and my system gives me a long signal, I enter and let the winner of the two trades run. I guess I could close the short, and set up pending orders to cover a drop below my long stoploss or a rise above my original short stoploss, but the difficulty with this is it's fiddly and it messes with my tracking/trade analysis, as it's hard to tell what the risk was for each individual entry signal. For this convenience/simplicity I realise I pay an extra spread, but makes it much easier from an order entry perspective and a tracking perspective, and on a longer timeframe the extra spread doesn't hurt too much.

Hedging is not for scalpers and day "traders". They lose anyways. This technique enables you to move an existing position away if (of course) the price goes into the other direction. It may take a long time to turn it profitable, but the same time is enough for the SLs to grind of all your capital. This isn't a mathematical game, but a gamble against the "casino".

With sl players keep loosing. Hedging gives an opportunity to move the bet away. Or play an other range.

Illustrating how to win in a losing game is not correct. Hedging is to stop losses. SL is to realize it.
