Took a ride out to the hawk watch on NJ/PA border yesterday. Spotted a Golden Eagle, but misidentified it as an immature Bald Eagle.. Others thought that it was a Black Vulture... It was distant and high up... When it got closer, an experienced man identified the bird as a Golden Eagle... A very imposing presence in the air... Came within 200 yards of our lookout.

I'd love to see a Golden eagle......a really majestic bird........

Lord, I'd hate to be a rabbit in an open field when that bird spotted me... They are like Bald Eagles on steroids... About the same overall dimensions, but heftier... I had never seen one b4... Dark, a la Darth Vader, LOL!!!!!!!!

People out there are cut from a different fabric than yours truly... I am an ethnic... An Italian... They are mostly Pa. Dutch, Scandinavians, and the like.... Very serious, quiet, methodical, task oriented types... A dozen present... Can hear a pin drop most of the time, except for when I open my dego yap, when I say," Hey, two birds of interest over the large Aspen," then all appear to be a bit bugged, as they pick up their binos to take a look...

I'm watching my weather chart now.....That mess that is in Texas now is the storm that will hit us Sun night right about the time I'm in the middle of the feed shutdown cycle.....Oh well I won't shrink if I get wet!!!!

That sounds like my father......He was Pa Dutch.........Mother was New Englander from Maine..........

Judging by their vehicles, and optical equipment, most are very well to do... Talking about sailing, excursions to Kenya to bird watch, etc... I take it that there is a protocol that I have failed to adhere to... Unless you are an official(?) observer you are to keep your lips zipped and not make any calls... At any rate, they are very quiet (but not unfriendly), and really down to business... A bit too formal for my taste.. But a great locale to watch hawks!!!!!!!!

Morning Pippo,
A clear 62 degrees here this morning, at least its not raining.....Birds have gone to market and the farm is quiet.....Weights were good on this bunch, a 7.36 lb average..........
We'll see what the forex market is doing........

Morning Whip, Glad catch went well.. 7.36 lbs average is surprising to me. Never realized they would get so big in such a short time. We are a cool 46 deg, dry, 33 deg in Swamp... Still flat after closing all Fri. noon.

I'll have to admit, this new breed of bird surprised me also....After the third week of the grow out I never thought they would reach weight because they were growing so slowly.....They took off at about the 4th week and came on really well....
