Currenlty am using MT4 and usualy open 4 trades with a .1 lot size so that I can be agressive with my stops on two trades and more conservative on the other two. The problem though is I have to pay the spread on each trade which cuts into my profits. Is there a way to take out one trade but with four .1 lots and scale out of each .1 lot at a different price than just one stop loss for all .1 lots.

Whether you open 4 trades at 1 lot each, or 1 trade at 4 lots, the actual cost to you will be the same.

I will use whole numbers here just to make it simple.

Assume that with 1 lot, each pip = $1 (standard mini account)
Therefore, with 4 lots, each pip = $4

Let's use a 2 pip spread

Scenario 1 - 4 trades, 1 lot each

1 lot x 2 pip spread, = $2/trade x 4 trades = $8

Scenario 2 - 1 trade, 4 lots

4 lots x 2 pip spread = $8/trade x 1 trade = $8

As you can see, it is mearly the number of lots that matters. Not how many trades it takes to get to that many lots.

Hope this clears up your concern.

Chris

Also if you have .4 lots entered by one single trade and you want to close .1 part of it; you can do that.

Right click on your order, select close; when the new window appears change the volume there to the number of lots you want to close; the balance will remain open in the market.
